Re: Beta 6.9.0 T55 and Plex

Thanks everybody for your feedback regarding the issue with the Plex app.

We were doing a little "cleanup" to help out another app, and it looks like we might have cleaned up too much. I will be working with the team to help resolve this issue in the next build.

Plex uninstalled itself.

Reinstall Plex, it disappeared again.

Not tried in 6.90, but having the same issue in 6.81 RC1.  It's not really "uninstalling itself" though, it's just not showing in the Apps tab, and thus you have no way of turning it on or off from the web interface.  Rolling back to 6.81 Beta 1 from 6.81 RC1 makes it reappear.

I have this issue also, Plex is installed and you can reinstall it but it won't show in the installed apps list, but does run if you restart the NAS. Wasn't an issue for me in 6.8.1

Re: Beta 6.9.0 T55 and Plex

Are you guys installing from the Apps list in the ReadyNAS GUI or loading up from the latest .deb package on plex.tv downloads?

With 6.8.1 the only problem I had was that Plex was showing in the list as installed, I could toggle the service on/off but the Plex Server would intermittently disspapear from my Plex Apps on my TV/Mobile/Firestick etc...

Could be that the Plex daemon was terminating for some reason.

6.9.0 I have not tried in all honesty but this thread has prompted me to do so, just to see if the issue is present for me.

Cheers

From Plex.tv, the PMS does still remain accessible completely fine, its just odd it doesn't show in the apps list.

Re: Beta 6.9.0 T55 and Plex

Yeah, thats a definite weird one.

It doesn't appear on the Apps shortcut list either in the 'System'  tab?

I'll load up 6.9.0 tonight and will know more.

Wondering if it is ReadyNAS model specific. Running an RN312 (Intel) here.

Re: Beta 6.9.0 T55 and Plex

For me, it's doing it on an RN316, with 6.81 RC1. 6.81 Beta 1, the issue does not appear. I'm assuming they made similar changes in that RC and the 6.90 beta, or they based the beta on that RC. I have the latest Plex Pass release of Plex from the Plex website, btw.

Re: Beta 6.9.0 T55 and Plex

I have loaded 6.9.0-T55 and can confirm it is a bug.

It will allow you to upload the .deb package and installs successfully but Plex does not show up either in Apps (Installed or Available) or in System.

6.8.1-RC1 has the same issue.

If I go back to 6.8.0 Official then the Plex App issue is then restored.

Cheers

Re: Beta 6.9.0 T55 and Plex

Also the very important thing to add is when you update Plex using the .deb package from plex.tv by default the Plex service is toggled 'off'.

There is now no way to toggle the service 'on' because the App is no longer there.

I mean there is probably SSH to manually toggle the service but that's not the issue here 🙂

Re: Beta 6.9.0 T55 and Plex

I can confirm that 6.8.1-RC2 has now fixed this issue.

Awaiting the next release of 6.9.0 to confirm fix.

Cheers!
