It would have been better to say "x86 only".

No, only RN100 series and RN2120 are not supported for file searching. RN200 series are also arm based, but support file searching. I'll ask someone to update the beta release notes.

It's a bug. I'll file a bug. Thank you.

I think it is under 'shares' section, not at home to double check.

I don't see that, does it rely on what services are enabled?, I only use SMB

Re: ReadyNASOS 6.8.0-T54 (Beta 2) File Search through the admin interface

It appears to be using tracker ( https://wiki.gnome.org/Projects/Tracker ), with the information stored in /apps/.xdg

The search is only available from the web ui -  so it doesn't depend on SMB.

Do you see an "File Search" option on the main system overview page (right under anti-virus).  You need to enable the search there.

Re: ReadyNASOS 6.8.0-T54 (Beta 2) File Search through the admin interface

did you enable indexing on the main frontview page, just under the antivirus toggle?

There are also settings for the indexing, you can configure which shares are indexed as well as exclude files/folders.

btw it taken since beta 1 until the last day or so, to finish indexing ~25tb of data. (file search went from indexing to enabled) so a week or more.

Mine seems stuck, though I'll wait longer to confirm.

There was at least twice where the indexer was stuck on 'starting' and I had to reboot to get it back to 'indexing' again.

My remaining time never changed, though the number of indexed files occasionally did.

It would appear that the indexing is done when the frontpage changes from 'indexing' to 'enabled'.

Mine says Indexing but the file and folder count hasn't changed for at least 10 hours.  Pause/resume didn't change that.

FWIW, the time to complete on mine hasn't budged since I started it.

Re: ReadyNASOS 6.8.0-T54 (Beta 2) File Search through the admin interface

wierd.

check under system > settings > file search

see if there is a new button to enable file search there

otherwise, it may simply not yet be available on that device.

nothing there.

RN104, per release notes should be there. didn't see anything saying it was not applicable to this system.

suppose can upgrade the RN314 tomorrow and see.

Re: ReadyNASOS 6.8.0-T54 (Beta 2) File Search through the admin interface

perhaps release notes should mention that??

also, if not going to be supposted there is a display bug/error as there then shound not be an unusable search icon showing.

Hello dmacleo,

The firmware it is still on beta version the release notes might not be that detailed. Let us wait on the official release of the firmware and hopefully this specific information will be added on the official release notes. You may also raise the concern on the Idea Exchange board.

Re: ReadyNASOS 6.8.0-T54 (Beta 2) File Search through the admin interface

well its not so much a lack of detail as a specific function lauded in the release notes cannot and will not work on some models.

that needs to be addressed

It would have been better to say "x86 only".

I agree the search icon shouldn't show up on arm-based NAS.
