4.1.9[T10]-Slow AFP write speed

Am I the only one seeing AFP write speeds drop in these betas after [T2]? With [T2] AFP write speeds are around 35MB/s, using [T6-T10] write speeds have dropped to around 10-12MB/s.

Re: 4.1.9[T10]-Slow AFP write speed

I'm seeing a slowdown on my Duo using AFP.

I'm running with Jumbo frames over a gigabit network switch.

Lion Finder Drag and drop copy speeds as reported by Activity monitor
4.1.9-T10 Write 13.7 MB/sRead 50 MB/s
4.1.9-T2 Write 25 MB/s/Read 55-60 MB/s

Re: 4.1.9[T10]-Slow AFP write speed

On my X6, T10 is about 1/3 the write speed of T2 for me. I'm using a 2.8Ghz Core 2 Duo iMac, OSX 10.7.3, jumbo packets, gigabit Ethernet

Using the shell command "dd if=/dev/zero of=foo bs=1024k count=512", I got 31045392 bytes/second write with T2, but only 11739606 bytes/second with T10.

Read speed was fairly close (42745905 bytes/sec for T2, 40373720 bytes/sec for T10)

Re: 4.1.9[T10]-Slow AFP write speed

Hi,
I also have slow write speeds.

Test results with Helios Lantest UB
4.1.8-T9
write afp 33MB/s
read afp 55MB/s
write nfs 14MB/s
read nfs 44MB/s
write smb 21MB/s
read smb 37MB/s

4.1.9-T6
write afp 14MB/s 😞
read afp 55MB/s
write nfs 14MB/s
read nfs 45MB/s
write smb 14MB/s 😞
read smb 37MB/s
Both afp and smb slower.

4.1.9-T9
same as T6.

I have not tried T2 or T10 yet.

Re: 4.1.9[T10]-Slow AFP write speed

Armand, I'd be interested to see your dd write performance via SSH if you have shell access to the box. You would need to do something like:

# cd /c
# time dd if=/dev/zero of=foo bs=1024k count=1024

Re: 4.1.9[T10]-Slow AFP write speed

rn-d-vl27:/c# time dd if=/dev/zero of=foo bs=1024k count=1024
1024+0 records in
1024+0 records out
1073741824 bytes transferred in 37,243286 seconds (28830480 bytes/sec)

real 0m37.321s
user 0m0.010s
sys 0m30.900s
rn-d-vl27:/c#

Is this good or bad?

Thanks for the detailed report Armand. I think we should have a fix for that in the next update soon.

Re: 4.1.9[T10]-Slow AFP write speed

I don't know how but I didn't notice T15 until mdgm suggested it!! I'm downloading now, thanks for the heads up.

By the way, has anyone tried SMB in 10.7.4 yet?

I upgraded last night, but have already changed all my libraries (iTunes, Plex etc.) to point at AFB sources. I don't want to have to change back to SMB to discover its just as flaky as before.
