[6.10-RC2] ReadyCloud Upload no File Date & Time

Uploading a PDF file (for testing complaints about upload limits here in the community) via Chrome on readycloud.netgear.com to a v6.10-RC2 x86 ReadyNAS. Once the sync is finished, accessing the file from Windows by SAMBA does not show any (!) dates.

Source (Win 10 local SSD), searched in Quick Access:

RN6_10_RC2_ReadyCloud_upload_source_date_ok.PNG

Destination after upload via ReadyCloud as seen from Windows ... no modification date:

RN6_10_RC2_ReadyCloud_upload_no_SAMBA_dates.PNG

Here what's on the ReadyNAS:

root@RN516:/data/Public/XS724EM# date
Sun Mar 24 10:59:04 CET 2019

root@RN516:/data/Public/XS724EM# stat *.pdf

Funny - the only correct date is the Linux change date (but AFAIK SAMBA does use the Modify Date).

BUG....

Re: [6.10-RC2] ReadyCloud Upload no File Date & Time

Hi,

As I wrote in the original mail - used drag-and-drop to Chrome on readycloud.netgear.com

Can't reproduce the problem anymore, used various searches on the Windows 10 system - feels like some kind of "volatile" effect, being on the WIndows 10 system holding the source file, on the Chrome browser, or on the ReadyNAS (which was updated to the released 6.10 in the meantime).

Let's close this for now.

Thank you!

-Kurt

The Windows GUI will display blanks for dates prior to 1980.

Did you compare the file on the NAS with the original?  I'm wondering if the upload completed properly.

On the Windows system, all dates were properly in place and well in the 21st century - see the screenshot of the source.

Exact same size, same MD5, same content.

The dates of the NAS copy were shown as blank on the Windows PC because they were before 1980 (1/1/1970).  At least that's what I am seeing in your first post.

So the problem is only that the Chrome upload didn't set the dates properly.  In many cases the dates are set after the file copy completes - that ensures that failed copies can be identified later.  But if the files compare, we know that the copy did complete (but the date wasn't properly set).

Does this happen all the time?  Or just occasionally?

Happened just occasionally.
