6.8.1-T106 (Beta 1) - UPS error message fix

Great job! I will test the new build later today. I am started to get really annoyed by the USB UPS removed/new USB UPS detected error messages:

Tue Aug 22 2017 22:39:55		System: New USB UPS detected. Manufacturer: EATON, Model: Eaton 3S 550, Serial: XXXXXXXX.
Tue Aug 22 2017 22:39:48		System: USB UPS removed. Manufacturer: EATON, Model: Eaton 3S 550, Serial: XXXXXXXX.

I do hope it will really be eliminated in this build.

It's both comforting and disconcerting to finally know that I am not the only one who has had this problem. My concerns were both deflected and ignored for the past 8 months on these forums and on the phone, with no hint that the issue was experienced by anyone else. (link here) Only recently (once a solution was forthcoming) was the issue actually acknowledged by support staff.

I'm keeply awaiting this release being made final (as I am not prepared to install beta software on a production NAS) to see if it fixes my identical issue. It's looking hopeful!

The issue might have really been fixed in the 6.8.1 beta...

It looks like it was released 2 days ago, but my RN104 still says 6.8.0 is the latest! How can I get it to see the new version? I've already tried rebooting it...

It seems a lot less often now on 6.8.1, so what you've done has helped, but not enough.

Upgraded to 6.9 a few days ago, no change.

Also emailing log messages to hotmail is now broken!

Can someone please revisit this? I'm hoping this can be soon rather than waiting that long again!!

@bobba84, your logs show that the USB host controller is reporting that the device timed out, and it's forced to reset it.  The possibilities I've gathered from various corners of the internet suggest that the most likely causes are (a) a bad USB cable, or (b) buggy UPS firmware.

I have changed the cable, and others I know have the same UPS on the same NAS with no problem...

It could be an issue with your specific UPS.

What model is it?  Have you tried connecting the UPS to a PC, and see if you have any issues there?

It's an Eaton 5S. On Windows 10 it works fine.
