6.9.3 RC2 rsync backup fails
Just updated my test server to 6.9.3 RC2 from RC1. The rsync backup job I had working fine previously now fails with the message "Desination cannot be accessed"
The job is configured to backup to an external USB drive.
Curiously(?) when I check the settings for the backup job the destination is no longer listed! The type field says "no longer exists", the name is blank, and the path is correct but greyed out.

Re: 6.9.3 RC2 rsync backup fails
It's been going on longer than just RC2 - My RC1 backups are also afftected. - These were all done one ater each other on the same eSATA device with removeable disks - Yes I dismounted them properly !

Re: 6.9.3 RC2 rsync backup fails
Ok definitely something NQR here - the two middle backups go onto the same drive - different directories. They have both just run but the drive is described differently by each job
Ejecting the drive and replacing it with the 'documents backup drive
This failed first time despite me being able to access it from 'shares' but ran the second time with no change in configuration. Still running but nothing in the logs to suggest a problem this time..
Something not right though

Re: 6.9.3 RC2 rsync backup fails
We need to gather additional information regarding this issue. Is there a reason why you are not using the "USB/eSATA Ports" option for all the backup jobs?

Re: 6.9.3 RC2 rsync backup fails
Hi - I'm using the same device plugged into the back eSATA port - It's a dock where I shuffle the 3 HDDs into for the 3 backups. I set them all the backup jobs up the same way. There is no USB connection only the eSATA one.

Re: 6.9.3 RC2 rsync backup fails
After extensive testing I could not reproduce the issue . . . still not convinced it is "user error."

Re: 6.9.3 RC2 rsync backup fails
also cannot reproduce. 314 (6.9.3 rc2) has samsung 5tb usb drive attached to it, some backups go to it and some to my 104 using rsnc.
all working.

Re: 6.9.3 RC2 rsync backup fails
Ouch! If you **bleep** us do we not bleed ?!: smileylol:
Version 6.9.3 Released Version Now - Same error - It's also reproduceable !
'll post the sequence after re-stating the issue
1. Currently there are 3 Backup jobs - all created at the same time. All use the same eSata dock plugged into the back of the 426. Backups to Drive 2 and 3 run seamlessly
2. Disk 1 has 2 directories: One for Music and one for Pictures - They appear differently in the backup view. A different backup task should place the Pictures and Music shares form the volumes in these directories. The Music share always fails if tried first
3. Disks 2 and 3 have only the one backup task accessing them
4. All Shares on all disks become available from the 'shares' web interface as soon as they are plugged in
5. After running the Pictures backup on Disk 1 I find that I can make the Music backup work by accessing a '2 levels down' directory on the disk using the 'shares' interface Music /Michael/Nils Frahm for example - the backup is then able to complete without apparent error -

Re: 6.9.3 RC2 rsync backup fails
Ejecting the disk doesn't seem to stop it being 'published' either - The disk is not plugged in - It's in a locked filing cabinet off site - It was ejected (and actually reformatted) as I made it a FAT32 instead of NTFS (big files) - Reboot cleared it.

Re: 6.9.3 RC2 rsync backup fails
mikebainbridge1 was this working for you on a previous firmware? If so, which one?
Can you send in your logs (see the Sending Logs link in my sig)?

Re: 6.9.3 RC2 rsync backup fails
Hi - I have never had it working - I got the machine and immeditely took it to 6.9.2 before any other configuraton. I went to T255 6.9.3 Beta as Time Machine doesn't work with 6.9.3 and MacOS 10.13 and AFP. Since then the config has been the same and each backup gets the same error. I don't do that many at the moment as I still can't put something this unstable into production and the reason for buying it (google drive) doesn't backup the files we need.
