It would be better to work with Plex on this case since the Plex process is controlled by them and not the NAS.
I have noticied in a unit recently where Plex's DLNA would take a lot of memory. In a number of cases users do not use DLNA on Plex and can be disabled. ReadyDLNA has a lighter footprint.
You could enabled Secure Diagnostics Mode and PM me the 5-digit number. Please note that I can only tell you what process is taking the memory and if it is related to Plex, then you will need to work with Plex regarding the specific process that is causing the issue.

Re: 6.9.4 T43 - RAM issue with plex
RAM is used for caching to improve performance and freed up as needed, however on the other hand swapping, such as low % swap free does indicate a problem.
Are you sure that it's Plex that's using the memory?
Which other apps are you running? Which services are you running?

NB: A ReadyNas is not an excuse not to have a backup. Fire, theft, multiple disk failures, other hardware failure, floods, user negligence etc. can all result in loss of data.

Re: 6.9.4 T43 - RAM issue with plex
Hi matmar,
Have you done any changes on the NAS before the problem started (e.g. add lots of files to library, update Plex, update firmware)?
Have you also tried contacting Plex and see what they say?
Regards,

Re: 6.9.4 T43 - RAM issue with plex
FYI I think there was some kind of memory leak fixed in plex recently.

Re: 6.9.4 T43 - RAM issue with plex
Also if that did not resolve it, are you using any Plex Plugins?

Hmmm. Not sure what it is then. Are you running the latest 6.9.4 beta?

Re: 6.9.4 T43 - RAM issue with plex
If the leak is in plex, then changing to a different NAS won't help.

Re: 6.9.4 T43 - RAM issue with plex
I have a huge, I mean h000ge plex library and I have not seen any memory leak or out of memory issues with my readynas or plex.
I do have upgraded memory to 16 gig, so if you are still on stock ram you may consider upgrading. But my ram according to HTOP is stays almost exactly around 3.9G with everything running, and linux uses the rest for cache/buffers.
Out of memory does not necessarily indicate you have a memory leak. It simply means you don't have sufficient ram for the applications that are trying to run.
