RN204 6.7.0-t158 (beta 1) Plex no longer works & DPKG errors

Hi guys, i upgraded to the beta in an attempt to fix issues I was having with 6.6.1 - previously my readynas would lock up and become unresponsive after a few hours requiring a "yanking" of the power cable to reset to be able to access files.  Since the beta has been installed I have to say the system has stayed online for as long as i've needed it - only issue now is that Plex has the "on" toggle within apps section of the admin section but page cannot be displayed.

I thought no biggie - i'll download the 1.4.1.3362 deb of plex again (i'm a plex pass subscriber)  and force an install via dpkg (via ssh).  I get the following output:

dpkg: error: parsing file '/var/lib/dpkg/status' near line 9098 package 'readynasos':

multiple non-coinstallable package instances present; most probably due to an upgrade from an unofficial dpkg

when I ran apt-get upgrade the following appears:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:

libc6 : Breaks: libc6:armhf (!= 2.19-18+deb8u7.netgear1)

libc6:armhf : Breaks: libc6 (!= 2.19-18+deb8u6.netgear1)

libcurl3-gnutls : Depends: libgnutls26 (>= 2.12.17-0) but it is not installable

readynasos : PreDepends: linux-image (= 4.1.30-11) but 4.4.48-60700174 is installed

sickrage : Depends: php5-sqlite but it is not installed

I'll be honest i'm a bit out of my depth now so any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Greg

Re: RN204 6.7.0-t158 (beta 1) Plex no longer works & DPKG errors

There is an intern build that has a patch for the app issue.

https://www.readynas.com/download/beta/readynasos/6.7.0/ReadyNASOS-6.7.0-T172-arm.img

https://www.readynas.com/download/beta/readynasos/6.7.0/ReadyNASOS-6.7.0-T172-x86_64.img

Please give this a try if you were running 6.6.1 and experiencing app installation issues. It should help clear up some of the package dependency issues that have been reported.

I do not have Plex installed but after running apt-get check I get

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
couchpotato : Depends: php5-sqlite but it is not installed
perl : Depends: libgdbm3 (>= 1.8.3) but it is not installed

I have  Couchpotato and Sickrage installed which both seem to run OK

This suggests a problem with the 6.7.0 install on your system or updating the package list on it.

The 4.4.48-60700174 linux-image is the right one for 6.7.0 so your system shouldn't be complaining about that.

Re: RN204 6.7.0-t158 (beta 1) Plex no longer works & DPKG errors

I have upgraded my RN312 to 6.7.0 version and although this topic is related to RN204, I get no such issues.

To pinpoint further, as RN312 is Intel (x86_64) could be specific to RN204 or ARM in particular?

OS install as in upload the .IMG via the web admin or a factory reinstall? Is the data on my drives safe?

Hello gsned,

Yes it is safe as long as you do it properly.

 • OS reinstall. Reinstalls the firmware from the internal flash to the disks. The OS reinstall boot mode can be useful when the system crashes and corrupts some configuration files. OS reinstall boot mode also resets some settings on your storage system, such as Internet protocol settings and the administrator password, to defaults.

I also get a large number of apt-get errors on beta 1.

on all 3 devices that are up on beta 1.

I do not know what the apt-get state was prior to beta 1.

Re: RN204 6.7.0-t158 (beta 1) Plex no longer works & DPKG errors

I wouldn't recommend doing an

# apt-get upgrade

Have you tried an OS Re-install?

Re: RN204 6.7.0-t158 (beta 1) Plex no longer works & DPKG errors

I just tried a boot menu os reinstall and no changes to the apt-get log above.

In addition to the apt-get errors, not able to update plex via the os 6 > apps > upload process.
System: Cannot install application plexmediaserver-ros6-binaries.
All 3 of my regular readynas exhibit the same or substantially the same (did not check line by line) apt-get errors.

My 528x, can successfully do apt-get update & apt-get upgrade with no errors. Which doesn't have all the same packages installed as the other 3.

So it seems to be related to one or more of the older apps packages that were previously installed and working.

It works!!  I haven't run any apt-get upgrade commands but plex worked straight away after the update.  Yay!  I would be lying if i said I didn't have a little skip around my laptop with joy lol.
