ReadyNAS OS 6.1.4 no DLNA after a reboot! - solved
Another quick question;
is there a known issue with DLNA on the RN102, OS6.1.4?
After every reboot - I have to log onto the web interface to start a DLNA scan, if not done, nothing on my network can find the device!
Certainly not happy, along with other issues I've had with a new unit 😞
EDIT - confirmed all ok with 6.1.7 (it may have been fixed on an earlier beta, but I was not in a position to test

Re: ReadyNAS OS 6.1.4 no DLNA after a reboot!
Thanks for confirming I'm not going crazy.
Fingers crossed it's sorted in the next beta or final release
additional info - I do not set my DLNA to auto scan, so currently I have to log onto the web interface and force a rescan before I can stream.

Hi rnas_newbie,we are confirmed that there is no ReadyDLNA service boot issue in 6.1.4(with or without Autoscan enabled),we had a DLNA rescan issue in old OS6 but it had been fixed, can you please contact support center to troubleshoot this issue?

They are not duplicating it and are asking for help. Perhaps you can also contact the support center also to troubleshoot.

Re: ReadyNAS OS 6.1.4 no DLNA after a reboot!
without doing any extensive testing, I've just rebooted and all was working fine on the DLNA front.
but...I had disabled the genie market place, as I concede that Polkast is not going to install which is a great shame! (I posted another thread on this issue that I'd wasted a ton of time on trying to get it to work again...)

Re: ReadyNAS OS 6.1.4 no DLNA after a reboot!
As I've given up on this box for now, and will complete a full reset it in the future(as I've backups of the data)
I thought I'd try SSH access and started to explore the minidlna.conf settings, as I'd ideally like to rename the server that the ReadyNAS presents to my DLNA devices.
After editing within vi, and adding the following; friendly_name=my choice
+ customising the folders. As why on earth can you only select the top level share via the gui? My Ultra2 is far superior as you can really fine tune folders which suits my requirements.
Results so far, I cannot figure out how to restart the service, as somewhere along the line, whenever I mess with the DLNA service from the gui, toggling it on/off it seems to rewrite the values I'd entered.
There's a long way to go with testing, so I may have to edit this post later, so...Q's
Main q: how do I restart DLNA on a RN102 via SSH?

Re: ReadyNAS OS 6.1.4 no DLNA after a reboot!
You need to edit the sqlite3 database /var/readynasd/db.sq3 (your changes to /etc/minidlna.conf will be overwritten using data in this database)
Try commands such as this
Try commands such as this
# systemctl status minidlna
# systemctl restart minidlna

Re: ReadyNAS OS 6.1.4 no DLNA after a reboot!
Thx! 😄
I think that's sorted it out, currently re-indexing.
The additional good news from my perspective is that I've managed to change the name using the commands you'd detailed when you helped someone else out on
viewtopic.php?f=76&t=72598&start=15
thanks again

Re: ReadyNAS OS 6.1.4 no DLNA after a reboot!
after a reboot or two, the unit reverted back to it's DLNA original name....hence I've given up & factory reset the RN102 & will see if I have issues with DLNA starting after a reboot.

Re: ReadyNAS OS 6.1.4 no DLNA after a reboot!
If you would like to add custom DLNA settings, you can now put them in /etc/minidlna.conf.local and they will not get overwritten, starting in 6.1.6-RC11.

Re: ReadyNAS OS 6.1.4 no DLNA after a reboot!
You'd have to do it from an SSH session to the box.

Re: ReadyNAS OS 6.1.4 no DLNA after a reboot!
Got a similar problem here with 6.1.6 rc13. Normal i stream through my sat receiver (linux) and do the mounts from there without using dlna.
When i try it on my samsung, the tv does not find de readynas dlna service. it find my computers with dlna but not the readynas. I am pretty sure that this has worked before.
So it looks like the service is running. but it is not found.
On the iphone it allso isn't found.

Re: ReadyNAS OS 6.1.4 no DLNA after a reboot!
Yes. please post in 6.1.6 thread 🙂
Skywalker is a little bit to fast in saying: Its not a bug... its a feature... 🙂
Up to 6.1.2 i never had this problem, and since 6.1.3 with every version...
Hope other important developers SEE that it is a bug an fix it....

thx for this improvement.
I can confirm, all seems ok for now re the original issue, as I dug my unit out and tested it on 6.1.7, & DLNA did not lose the config, nor start a rescan after a reboot.
