ReadyCloud Desktop Client - ReadyCloud Server unavailable

The last week, every time I start my machine up, this is the error message I get - ReadyCloud Server unavailable. I can go the the web browser and log in so the error is false. Everything else on the network is working and internet is working. I have downloaded the latest version and when on the web browser logged in at Netgear even updated the firmware on the box. It is the Desktop App that is failing to log in and connect. No error log or explanation given. I can play with the 2 settings and neither make any difference.

Re: ReadyCloud server is unavailable

Second machine rebooted and identical issue now. Any idea what’s going on? It looks like it’s isolated to ReadyCLOUD desktop interface. The we interface remains accessible and functional. Maybe time related?

Re: ReadyCloud server is unavailable

Are you running Windows 7?  Others have reported issues with it.

Are you in a region that might be affected by internet filtering due to the Russia/Ukraine conflict?

Re: ReadyCloud server is unavailable

The two I have dared to reboot are both WIndows Server 2012 R2.  It seems ok with Windows 10 and 11 thus far.  I do have another server (2019) I can reboot but it's critical so I'd prefer not to risk it right now.  I'm in UK by the way

Re: ReadyCloud server is unavailable

windows 7 is correct for me. but it used to work, why did it end up so abruptly?

not so sure about internet filtering, is there a way i can check if something blocks my connection to readycloud?

This is the same for me. It suddenly stopped working early this week. Coincidentally close to BST clock change. Not sure if it’s pertinent?

Re: ReadyCloud server is unavailable

Other have reported that problem with Win7, and Netgear is aware of it.  But they have not duplicated the issue.

Are you by chance running Win7 64-bit?  That wasn't common, so maybe that's a difference.  Also, what country are you in?  Win7 was distributed in different version in different geographical areas and, at the time, there were certain encryptions not included in some.  I have no idea if that really matters, but I'm looking for differences as to why Netgear might be unable to duplicate something that many are reporting.

Re: ReadyCloud server is unavailable

I'm afraid I haven't tested with Windows 7 although I am aware of a known problem with WIndows 7 and certificates so that may relate?  Both of my known issues are with WIndows Server 2016 64Bit.

Meantime, on both networks I have installed the client successfully on Windows 10 terminals and all seems to be OK so it appears to be isolated to specific (ageing) Operating Systems perhaps

Re: ReadyCloud server is unavailable

I'm also having that issue for the last 4-5 days, tried uninstalling ReadyCloud, installing an older version, even tried going back to an older Firmware. but no luck.at least I can access my NAS from the web interface on the PC and also from my Android phone. I'm on Windows 7 Pro 64 bit btw.

Re: ReadyCloud server is unavailable

Yes.  It looks like it's specific OS affected.  Hopefully Netgear will resolve it shortly.  They usually do once alerted, but in this case it seems they can't replicate the issue.  I for one am happt to assist with that one .....

Re: ReadyCloud server is unavailable

windows 7 sp1 64-bit, yes. i did not operate any updates or change anything in the system.

i'm not in UK as MalcolmT is and the flock of neighbouring topics i think kind of justifies it's all over the place.

also i can check for system updates on the device admin page and iOS app seems to work just fine. so it's not a connection problem, i guess.

Re: ReadyCloud server is unavailable

I have tried reinstalling again this morning and it hesitates for a long time showing "Adjusting Network Adapter" with the details tab paused at the bold section below.  Is it perhaps timing out when contacting the server for DHCP?

We were able to try a Win7 box and it was able to connect thru the app. Just want to check that all win7 are updated?

Mine are both fully patched Server 2012 OS.  I just reinstalled readycloud in case it's resolved but no joy I'm afraid

IS there perhaps an array of entry points - one of which is faulty?

Re: ReadyCloud server is unavailable

@mkrt

In regards with the Mac OS version not installing, you may want to try and use this link to download and install ReadyCloud.

NOTE: You may have to override security settings of your OS to download the pkg

Regarding the Win7 issue, were you able to update the optional that enables TLS1.1/1,2?

Win7 ended it's support. ReadyCloud servers also needs changes especially with security updates, there might be changes that affected older OS that no longer get updates.

It might be time to jump on another version. IMO

TLS versions are enabled here but still no joy.

You said you had it working with Windows 7. Was that 32 or 64 Bit? Which version of the client did you install?

OS upgrade is planned but not yet. Thanks for the advice though.

Re: ReadyCloud server is unavailable

this is not a cool reply at all. how do i synchronise the folders i've been working with for the past month? why everybody became so sure it's a windows 7 exclusive issue, especially if it works on 'your box'? this TLS update doesn't help as i've already said. something blocks the connection for some reason. at the time i was starting this topic the https://readycloud.netgear.com page was endlessly reloading after signing in with no luck eventually. now i can sign in but it takes REALLY long time, like several minutes at least. all the recent topics regarding connectivity after 24th march seem to have the same issue.

Re: ReadyCloud server is unavailable

What can I say? All I can tell you is that I have two separate networks, both with a Windows 12 Server and a Windows 8 terminal with identically configured ReadyCLOUD clients installed. In both cases, the server fails every time and the terminal works every time. I haven’t looked at Windows 7 at all. My conclusion is that there is an issue with Windows 12 Server that has only manifested itself since the end of last month. Until then, the program has worked almost flawlessly for several years.

Hello Marc,

Ive just tried with no success on a Win 7 Pro 32bit Desktop, I even reinstalled an earlier version of ReadyCloud 1.19 to see if it would Update to 1.20 but no luck I'm afraid. Both my Win 10 Pro 64 bit Laptops are working fine.

Cheers Simon
