Home Folder Dissappeared
My ReadyNAS, which is running the latest OS has been running fine for over a year now. I am the only user that has access to it. All of a sudden this morning, I noticed that my home folder is missing. There is only one folder "admin" and there used to be two. Has anyone else had this problem? Without a backup, has anyone been able to find the folder. It is missing both from my mapped drive and from the web interface. The user account is also missing by the way.

Re: Cant access my http://readycloud.netgear.com site
The OS reinstall did the trick - well, after I figured out that I had to turn back on the cloud service. Thanks!

if the users have home directories and have data, get them backed up to another share, all my home dirs appear to be gone

Re: Home Folder Dissapeared
What is also odd is that no space has been freed up. There is over a terabyte of data missing and it is not reflected in the free space.

Re: Home Folder Dissapeared
Now looking at the logs, I see that 4 this morning my account was deleted. I wasn't awake at 4am and no one else has access to the NAS. I don't know why the account would have been deleted. Are the files moved and stored anywhere when an account is deleted. Why did it get deleted?

Re: ReadyCloud Shows Drives as Offline
Hello all,
ReadyCloud is currently down, eng'g is currently investigating. I believe there is no need to create a new account. It may be best to wait for an update about this ongoing problem. We sincerely apologize for the inconveniences.

Here is the log for someone to look at. You can see that the account cirillo.k@gmail.com was deleted at 4:09am. I see no reason as to why it was deleted.

Re: Cant access my http://readycloud.netgear.com site
Please read this Netgear KnowledgeBase Article on "How do I use ReadyCLOUD to allow or remove share access for remote users?"
Once you have invited the Cloud User, they have to click on an email link and login to ReadyCloud which will activate their access to that shared folder.
I do recommend you have "Snapshots" turned on for ALL shares.
I personally do NOT use the "Home" directory, but setup a seperate Share on the volume and give the Cloud User read/write access to it, thus if the "ReadyCloud" system has the same issue as it has has today, you don't lose the data stored in the "Home" directory.

Re: Cant access my http://readycloud.netgear.com site
Having too many snapshots is not a good thing either, metadata allocation can become high, the volume can become unbalanced and the data significantly fragmented.
And it can actually be counterproductive in some situations. For example, don't have snapshots on a share where you write Veeam backups, or any rotating backup.

Re: Cant access my http://readycloud.netgear.com site
You say you turned off cloud services tand the users were cloud users. I can see how you might need to make new users without the service.

Re: Cant access my http://readycloud.netgear.com site
My service is up and running again. Netgear has solved whatever DB issues they had, for now....
Username/Password from 6 months ago is working without having to change it. Nothing wrong on the client side - but of course I didn't know that from midnight-4am last night while I was up trying to troubleshoot this. Thanks for wasting my time, Netgear.
@Nodeadpixels wrote:@BrentDynamics Tried that too and I just get a PASSWORD RECOVERY FAILED message. Thanks for the tips - hopefully something gives soon.

Re: Cant access my http://readycloud.netgear.com site
1) You create a new user called "NewCloudUser@someinternet.com", and a "Home" folder is created for them under the directory "Home" called "NewCloudUser"
2) Snapshots only work on the users own home folder, in this case the folder called "NewCloudUser". Snapshots DO NOT work on the folder called "Home".
3) if you were to delete the user " NewCloudUser@someinternet.com then they system will automatically delete their home folder called "NewCloudUser" from below the "Home" directory. Thus having Snapshots turned on for the users home folder will NOT help you retrieve their data.
What has happened today with the ReadyCloud system, has effectively told you ReadyNAS that it is NOT part of the READYCLOUD system, thus it has no ReadyCloud users, hence the ReadyNAS has:-
1) Turned OFF the "ReadyCloud" option under "Cloud" in "Admin".
2) therefore deleted all ReadyCloud users.
3) therefore deleted the ReadyCloud users "Home" directory.
Just as if you were the one who had toggled the ReadyCloud option to "OFF"
Hence why I never use the "Home" directory option, but create my own folder on the root of the volume and give "Read/Write" access to the relevant ReadyCloud user.
It would be much better for the future if when a user is delete their "Home" directory was not automatically deleted. Nor if the ReadyCloud service was toggled to "OFF" should the "Home" directories be automatically deleted.

Re: Cant access my http://readycloud.netgear.com site
You need to log on to the ReadyNAS locally as "Admin" click on the "Cloud" tab / ribbon and toggle the ReadyCloud from "OFF" to "ON" and put in your ReadyCloud username and password for the system to be seen again in "ReadyCloud.netgear.com"
