Re: Cant access my http://readycloud.netgear.com site
I have spent the entire day repairing the damage done by this latest debacle.
Having accessed our Ready NAS on a local network I was able to turn the Ready Cloud back on and register again with my admin e-mail and password for the Ready Cloud. From there I have been reinviting all of my users and then assigning their original shares. At the moment everything (touch wood) is working properly but that doesn't mean that I feel relaxed about being a Netgear customer. I sit here wondering what the next episode might bring.
We were fortunate not to be users of the home file set up so it appears that we have not lost any data.
What a terrible waste of business time trying to get back to where we were in the first place!

Re: Cant access my http://readycloud.netgear.com site
So, I eas also affected but for now everything is working again and no files have been deleted. The Cloud Tab was turned off on March 30th. But now everything is working fine. The question is... for how long???? How can it be that my files are all there and others are having such a trouble. Should I forget about the Readycloud and turn it off at all?? I am really not sure if I can trust netgear and their support anymore...

Re: Cant access my http://readycloud.netgear.com site
A likely explanation of the result but not the cause.
My home folder was empty and ReadyCLOUD toggled back on okay, so I was not adversely affected. I will continue to leave the home folders empty and to use ReadyCLOUD for remote access until unfortunately NETGEAR discontinues the free service because of the fallout from this incident.
That and backup.

Re: Cant access my http://readycloud.netgear.com site
Hello,
As you may know, the readycloud apps (desktop and cell phone) and web access are offline. I can access my files via cell phone network place however I will probably need your help and intervention to re-establish the connection via application and web. My email address is josee2111@gmail.com.
Let me know when this support can take place or if I need to attend to anything to re-establish this connection after your intervention.
thank you,
Linda

Re: Cant access my http://readycloud.netgear.com site
Hello all,
There may be multiple reasons that the email did not reach you. Email spam filter, wrong email address, etc.
If you need assistance, please email directly to this address:
readycloudsupport@netgear.com from a valid MyNETGEAR email account
Best Regards,
Doug

Re: Cant access my http://readycloud.netgear.com site
Hi Laughrea,
If you can access your ReadyNAS through the ReadyCLOUD app on the smartphone, I am hard pressed to believe that you can not get access to your ReadyNAS through the portal and your Windows app. Please try this one more time.
On your smartphone, go to "Settings" and signout. and log back in. Make sure that you can truly access the ReadyNAS, not because you are seeing the pictures and file thumbnails that are cached on the phone. Don't give credit to NETGEAR too early. And do it with your WiFi off on your phone. This way, you are forcing a "remote" access through the mobile phone network.
Once you have verifed the above, the next easy verification is go to //readycloud.netgear.com
If you succeed in the above, then try the Windows app. Use the refresh button to log out and log back in.
Good luck.

Also I'm now stuck with [admin] as my admin user name, is there any way I can change that?

Re: Cant access my http://readycloud.netgear.com site
britrb,
I actually don't recommend that. It is against my design philosophy. ReadyNAS GUI does not give user the ability to change the admin name to anything else.
If you were able to do it before, you must have accessed ReadyNAS through shell or some other back door. Once you are in Linux, of course you change the admin name. But that is a "violation" of standard use. NETGEAR tech support would have reasons to decline support. Unless you are really comfortable with Linux and have a legitimate reason, don't change "admin" to anything else. You will have all kinds of troubles/conflicts later on in using the system.
My 2 cents...

Re: Access to ReadyCLOUD / Admin Panel - is not available
I cannot log into any of tghe Admin pages at all. Is there a fix for this? I can see my folders on my local network and I can open all but one folder. The one I cannot open is asking for log in info, when I enter it I get nothing.
What would happen to my data stored on my device if I go in and remove it on the RAIDar site/page, or would this help at all?

Comnputare...
Sorry to hear the ordeal you had to get through to bring your system back to where it was.
It could be argued as a design defect, to take such draconian approach to credential authentication. NETGEAR is treating this as a critical design bug and will be making a patch to the software.

I don't know ... are you absolutely positively 100% sure that wiping the hard drives of thousands of users constitutes a "critical design bug"?

Re: Access to ReadyCLOUD / Admin Panel - is not available
I was seeing the same problem with my ReadyNAS. I was able to clear the issue by doing the following steps...
Warning...a learning from the last several days was don't put anything in your home folder. If you have files there, create a new folder at the root of the NAS and move them there. Messing with user accounts (reseting or deleting) might delete the home folder.
Once you have secured your home folder...
Your PC must be on the same subnet as the NAS, otherwise ReadyCloud can't get to the admin page of the drive.
go to //readycloud.netgear.com
On the main status page (where your unreachable drive is greyed out) select the discover tab
Click on the "Discover" button
If the drive is on the same subnet and truly accessible, you will get the admin logon page
once you have logged on to your NAS, go to the cloud tab
In my case the ReadyCloud switch had been set to off (don't know how that happened). Turn it on again. It will ask you for your ReadyCloud username and password.
Once you have successfully been reassociated with your readycloud account if you go back to the readycloud URL (and maybe hit the refresh) it will make the greyed out icon go away and the fully functional icon will appear.
That worked for me. Hopefully it will for you.

Hit by the ReadyCloud bug; how to recover share.
So, I'm guessing I got hit by that ReadyCloud bug, since I couldn't get in to my share (which I had mapped to my laptop). Did an OS reinstall to reset the password, and finally managed to get in to the web admin, and then found out my share had disappeared, along with the snapshots that should have been there to restore such a thing. I had three 4TB disks and one 6TB disk, and I need to obviously try to recover the files. There's about 4TB of files that got deleted (so not a ton, thankfully), but since I had it in X Raid, I'm assuming any sort of attempt to recover means I'll need to connect all of the drives at once to my laptop, correct? Or is there another way to do this disk by disk? I'm aware I need a specific program for recovery (and I'm looking in to which one to use), all I need to know is how I'm connecting the drive (or drives) to do it.

Re: Access to ReadyCLOUD / Admin Panel - is not available
OK here I go again:
I go to "readycloud.netgear.com"
O the home page i see the NAS logo
and it says "ReadyNAS id off line, No power, check internet connectivity
If I click on "Manage" tab i get the same check power,& internet connectivity
If I click on the "Discover" tab I get:
I do get a picture of a NAS with ReadyNAS 202 and under that 45Y2545200C53
I also have ReadyNas "Manage" blue button, when I click on that it I get a box asking for Authentication Required, I enter my info and nothing, it comes back with the same box, I'm stuck.

Re: Access to ReadyCLOUD / Admin Panel - is not available
Do you have a different browser available that may not have a password extension or previously used invalid username and/or password credentials cached?
