I tried it on my phone and there it works fine.
I don't have another computer to test it unfortunately.

How much does it cost to get in contact with someone from netgear?
Im thinking of returning it if no one can help me. i still have warrenty and it seems not to work.

Re: vpn disconnected
I strongly advise not to buy Netgear products to everyone.
They make buggy hardware and dont feel like they should make a fix for it.
Many people have the same problem and yet nothing they will do to fix it.
Last time i ever bought a Netgear Product.
Take care all!
out! 🙂

Re: vpn disconnected
Apologies for the late revert
The VPN disconnected issue seems to be connected with the Mac OS Catalina update. If you are still willing to get it checked, I would like to request for the full logs of your NAS.
Thank you for your patience.

He's asking you to download the full log zip file from the logs page. Then upload the full zip to cloud storage (google drive, icloud, etc), and send him a private message with a download link.
You send a PM using the envelope icon on the upper left of the forum page. Don't post the link publicly.

Re: vpn disconnected
Is anyone any closer to finding a resolution to this? I recently upgraded to Mac Mini M1 Chip on Big Sur 11.2 and cannot use ReadyCloud (VPN disconnected). I work from home and rely on this so much.
Works fine from my windows 10 offsite and works fine on my mac when onsite! In desperate need for it to work on my Mac offsite.
Please help!

Re: vpn disconnected
You may want to look into a different VPN solution in the meantime, or permanently. I personally like and use ZeroTier, but have never done so on a Mac. I can remotely access my NAS with my laptop or phone just like I was local (as opposed to using a different user name like in ReadyCloud) and all my NAS (three at my home and one at my brother's three states away) can talk to each other for backup jobs (which ReadyCloud doesn't enable). ZeroTier runs in parallel to standard LAN protocol, as does ReadyCloud, so the devices can talk to each other without actually joining two local networks. You just use the ZeroTier IP adress instead of the local one.
Though old, there is an available ReadyNAS app for ZeroTier that still works. Alternately, you can install a more recent version via SSH.

Re: vpn disconnected
I don't get anything back from netgear about this issue.
That makes me sad and sure never buy anything from this brand again.

Many routers have openVPN built on (including Nighthawk and Orbi routers).
So that is another avenue you could explore.

Re: vpn disconnected
One thing to realize about ReadyCloud is it's reliance on the Netgear server to make that initial connection; and that's where your problem appears to lie. In these days of so many working from home, I suspect it's being used at a volume Netgear didn't expect. Of course, my evaluation of ReadyCloud is it's not really something I'd use in a business environment (I don't even use it for my family environment), but many may have gone in that direction for a quick solution for what they expected to be a short-term need that's been drawn out so much longer.
Netgear being the sole source can be both a plus and a minus. On the minus side, OS updates on the platforms that access the NAS don't have as many folks working on any necessary changes as an open source project would.
ZeroTier also needs their server to do the initial connection, so could potentially suffer from a similar fate, though I am not aware of any instances of problems. OpenVPN has only reliance on the DNS server, and then only if the NAS is not on a static IP.

I suspect you meant "only if the router is not on a static IP".

Either, actually. But that would be the more typical case for most users.
