The default action with the Amazon Cloud Drive is to Sync. I would like to see an option added to just backup the ReadyNAS shares to Amazon Cloud Drive and not Sync.
I want to use the cloud for a one way backup from the readynas to the cloud. The fact it tries to shove everything back is crazy.
I do however see that it is not a reaynas only problem--on my desktop the amazon software does the same thing, killing the drive it is linked to.
LIke others, i lost data today because of it.
Also would love to see the amazon app STOP changing the creation or modified date as how it knows files have been pushed up to the cloud. Modification of user data is not a good thing, people wonder what we have done to their files when they see dates change. Recommend it use a database or something like other commercial apps.
Reasoning-- If you are copying and syncing files to the NAS using other software programs, that software can go crazy because the date on the NAS version of a file will be newer than the orginal files. It therefore wants to copy over those files. (thereby putting the old file creation times back causing huge backups across the nework, and basically telling the amazon app that the file has never been uploaded, therefore also causing huge updates across the internet to amazon.)
Brilliant. One-way backup, with encryption turned on, would be perfect (no sync).
Hello. Anynews on that ? It would be awesome.
Plus, the windows client allow 4 uploads at the same time. The readynas only up 1 file after another. For a lot of small files, it's kinda of slow vs multiple transfert at the same time (granted you don't hit a drive access bottleneck).
Would also love to see this on the new Amazon S3 feature on OS 6.7
Great Idea. Would want something like this as well. Just had a mess on ym NAS when ACD decided to put everything I moved back to the old location.
I would like this to, I have just purchased a ReadyNas 214 to ease backing up to Amazon Drive - if I can't work round this I will send it back.
One way copy (over writes with changes)
Option to make over write or keep both (important.doc, important-1.doc important-2.doc etc)
Encrypt before sending
Just a heads up for the people who are hoping that Netgear is still going to put a lot of effort in the Amazon Cloud Drive service since Amazon's most recent decisions regarding their product.
They're switching "unlimited" to 1TB max at your next renewal. So unless you're backing up only a subset of your NAS this isn't a long-term thing anymore. You're better off switching to Backblaze or Crashplan or something similar.
Still would be useful to have a backup function or not remove funtion
Is there an update whether this functionality would be added.
Yes I agree. Backup and not sync.
