Check compatibility before suggesting firmware upgrades!
At present (v6.9.3) when a user logs into the admin console on their ReadyNAS, if a new firmware upgrade is available then they are offered it. The problem is that the user can (and has) update to the latest version without actually reading the relevant release notes etc. This can lead to inappropriate upgardes taking place i.e. they should have updated to an intermediate one.
May I suggest that when the system checks for the firmware upgrade and effectively makes a recommendation to the user, that it does the checking for the user and only offers the correct firmware upgrade based upon the current firmware. This would help to alleviate bricked ReadyNAS' or maybe other problems.
Thank you for taking the time to consider this amendment.
