Antivirus App in ReadyNAS

Hello everybody, my name is Lawrence an i have a problem with antivirus include on my readynas 104 (firmware 6.4.2), i want to say i have a small network 4 computers (W7 32bits) and DLNA TV Samsung. I create on each computers the same sharing (4 sharing folders of the nas), to make it simple, i use only one computer at the same time (the others are off), the internal antivirus is enabled. i can see in my windows explorer my 4 sharing folders (\\192.168.0.50\pictures ... \\192.168.0.50\video ... \\192.168.0.50\music  ... \\192.168.0.50\documents) ... if i try to access one of these sharing (documents for example), it takes too many time to open it and finally i have an error saying me "it's impossible to open the shared folder" (and access the files !) ... i can do it to each sharing, it's same thing !!!

 

if i disable the internal antivirus, there is no problem, the access to a file in a sharing folder is very quick and i have no problem with the 4 sharing folders. Best of all, i can switch on the 4 computers and the DLNA TV and access at the same time to different files !

 

What's wrong with the internal antivirus ?     Is there a solution for this ?  

 

i can't imagine to use a readynas NETGEAR without any antivirus, the NAS is to protect data and not to submit to virus !!!

Same problem with mine - very slow performance.  Had to disable the anti-virus.

Either disable the antivirus service for now, or try the 6.5.0 beta release found at https://community.netgear.com/t5/ReadyNAS-Beta-Release/ReadyNASOS-6-5-0-T322-Beta-1/m-p/1059936#U105...

Hello everybody,

 

First of all, thanks for your help, i have downloaded the beta version 6.5.0 for my readynas 10400 (4x 2Tb), i have enabled  the anti-virus.

My nas works well with the anti-virus and  i can connect quickly to each folders (4 sharing folders for me : video / pictures / music / documents).

 

I connect to it with my 4 computers (O.S. windows 7 32 bits and 64 bits)  and the DLNA TV with no problem !!!

 

Keep it like this ... it works well for me

I have only one dream, that one day, i will have a user manual in french for my readynas 10400 ....

I too have installed 6.5.0 beta
I could not map the nas, solved that.
I now have the anti-virus running
The admin gui has changed a little, it now includes ReadyNAS Community along the top
Also in performance the fan now has a setting below it for “quiet” “balanced” and “cool”
I like that, as my cpu runs at 62c normally
As for the anti-virus time will tell how it runs, but seems a good update so far

Thanks for updating this thread and for providing positive feedback about the recently released 6.5.0 Beta Firmware. Not sure though if HW/SW manuals will be available in different languages aside from English.

I have now deleted anti virus plus, and disabled the anti virus

 

As file folders were opening with alot of lag, they open instant without AV on,

Hi error404,

 

I saw that you created a thread about the latest Beta FW 6.5.0(beta2). Let us know if the unit responds well with the said FW while both AV services (built-in and app) are both enabled.

Had Anti Virus problem causing extreemley slow or no folder access problems. Disabled (Removed the Anti Virus App) and normal access to all data resumed. Downloaded the hot-fix and uploaded (installed) the deb files. On the System > Settings > Services Tab when I Enabled the Antivirus Service it turns green (enable) for about five seconds the gray out (disable). Reboot or re Enable has the same results. I use eSet Anti Virus and Firewall so data is secure. Will waite for a more positive fix. 6.5?
