Re: Missing addons

Hi!
Even though I dont have a tvcard yet I would love to see TVHeadend on the ReadyNas.

TVHeadend + XBMC on client seems to be the perfect tv-solution.

Re: Missing addons

Vince's add-ons are listed here: http://www.readynas.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=36&t=70914

There are other add-ons on the Genie Marketplace as well.

R6 = OS6 = ReadyNAS OS 6 = ROS6

Re: Missing addons

I believe Whocares didn't adapt his DDclient addon for OS 6.
I would add a Dynamic DNS client to the list of the missing addons for R6.
I was also thinking about a OpenVPNclient (not VPNserver which i have seen on your dropbox).
a thousand thanks

I found this, but didn't tried it yet (neither on os4 neither os6), and I have no idea if it could still reliably work on a readyNAS OS6.

or this :

anyone tried or having any idea if one could work on RN6 ?
thanks

Re: Missing addons (and Missing Facilities)

Hi Guys

First of all, I must mention that I have a ReadyNAS Duo v2 with the RAIDiator 5.3.8 firmware all controlled from my PC which runs WinXP Pro SP3 (no plans to change my O/S).

OK, my suggestion is not so much about "Add-ons" but about extra facilities/utilities.

As those of you will know, my NAS runs "Dashboard", which has a truly awful colour scheme and can strain the eyes of elderly users such as myself. If possible, I would like see a utility that can customise the colour scheme of some of Dashboard's pages, so that it can be more "eyes friendly".

UK Bob

PS. Before I bought my NAS Duo v2 last year I did a bit of research, I expected to see "FrontView" as the Duo's controlling software (very eyes friendly) but got the bug ridden Dashboard instead.

PPS. Don't get me wrong, I believe the NAS Duo v2 is a very good piece of IT hardware but it has been let down by Dashboard.

Re: Missing addons

1) The SDK. I can't find any instructions anywhere on how to set up a development environment for R6/ARM.

2) The server side of a free, client/server backup solution with multiplatform clients. Bacula would be super. Amanda would work. I'd port one and add an admin plugin myself, if I had an SDK.

3) The R6 Software Development Kit. For ARM-based units, in my particular case.

Re: Missing addons

There are some changes coming: http://www.readynas.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=405548#p405548

So maybe we will hear more when the next firmware is released.

You can develop apps for x86_64 even if you don't have a physical unit by running the VM (see http://www.readynas.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=70699) in VirtualBox on your PC/Mac. Since you have an ARM unit you could make addons that run on both ARM and x86_64

Re: Missing addons

Thanks for the tip, but what I really want is the server end of a client/server backup solution, running on R6/ARM. Obviously porting software like that to R6/amd64 won't quite get me there.

Are you saying the SDK for x86_64 includes cross-compiling for ARM?

Do you know if the developer network ( https://developer.netgear.com/home ) is simply experiencing technical problems, or has it been taken offline?

Re: Missing addons

hi all

iam still searching the whole day for a addon for downloading from oneclickhosters. There are much questions on the forum so i think there is a market for and iam not the only one - hopefully 🙂

Pyload on my R4 (i have two nas) is nice but i cant get him to download on R6 because python 2.7 isnt out. (error: DLC_27)
there are several addons like mldonkey (isnt the best opinion because its in 1 position for torrents) or rapidleech. But iam a beginner and dont have much skill in linux or python or something else 🙂

So, there are a few addons i am missing: Python 2.7 and mldonkey or rapidleech (or something else..)

Re: Missing addons

Hi, I previously used the dropbox add-in under 4.x but is it available under 6.x?
i know that dropbox is available via frontview in 6.x but i previously used the 4.x dropbox add-in to copy auto-upload photos sent from my smartphone to dropbox to my readynas - i don't think we can do this under the 6.x dropbox?
many thanks

Re: Missing addons

Hi forum,

I could really use an add-on that switches on Server Side Includes (SSI) on ReadyNAS (516).

See also https://www.readynas.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=72854 and https://www.readynas.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=36&t=73204

DDClient addon in the dropbox

Thanks a lot super-poussin ! Me and my RN6 are finally back where I have a IP dynamically assigned by my ISP. So I happily tried your new addon but it doesn't went so well :'(

First, I tried both method of installation (it's not the main problem) :
- if I download the addon from your dropbox then installing it by browsing from frontview => it says "failed to install add-on" even if I see the icon under 'installed apps'.
- however, when I install the addon directly in frontview from the list of 'available apps' then it will say "installed sucessfully".

But the real problem is when I try to copy the config file. Then I have this error (sorry it's in french, so it says : "Impossible to finish the operation because an unexpected error occurred (error code -8058)"

I don't think the 'bug' of my first installation (through dropbox) could case this error. I didn't find anything on google about error code -8058. So I am forced to ask all of you in the forum if anyone could help me to edit that ddclient.conf file.

Re: Missing addons

Addendum from Super-poussin (while i was preparing my last post) :
super-poussin wrote:
Try to reset the rights on the share using the dashboard , it should solve the issue

=> Thanks I am trying this right now, and will keep you posted.
EDIT : I was making a mistake preventing me to log in as an 'admin' like I thought I was.
So the DDclient addon is working perfectly as intendend !
Thanks super-poussin 🙂

Re: Missing addons

UBIQUITI Networks seems to be selling very affordable surveillance equipment.
They have a server software for Debian and Ubuntu. Would it be possible to get this as an addon for ReadyNas?

Re: Missing addons

The only thing that I do missing to the OS 6 is some kind of webUI to check on the CPU usage etc. on the NAS.

And ofc if it's possible some kind of RSS feed downloader that can download the .torrent file to the auto-load folder so Transmission can autoload it.
I'm more and 'lling to pay for it.
