Re: ReadyNAS OS 6.1.8 | Run on existing x86 (4.2) #notsuppor
Just wanted to say that i sucessfully performed the system update, and the NAS is now building the raid array (estimated time 26-28 hours UGH). Should I let it rebuild before i migrate data over to it? Only having my data in one location isn't nice, want to have a full duplicate backup up and running again as soon as possible, so the sooner I can start the better.
Now I also have a small issue, the dashboard says my Fan is dead, although it is spinning merrily. I replaced the stock fan with the popular Noctua one (which comes heavily recommended here) because the bearings died on the stock one. Is there something one can do to get the dashboard to recognize the fan, or is it just something I have to live with?

Re: ReadyNAS OS 6.1.8 | Run on existing x86 (4.2) #notsuppor
You can start copying the data across, though of course at lower speeds than once the volume is redundant.
Firstly for the fan issue if you are not already running the latest 6.1.9 RC update to that and see if it helps.
You could perhaps see if a modified version of the file suggested here helps: http://www.readynas.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=411650#p411650
Note the paths might be different as you are using a 3rd party fan.

Re: ReadyNAS OS 6.1.8 | Run on existing x86 (4.2) #notsuppor
Hello all.
The upgrade works well on a Ultra2. I have put addons, my sites, ... all was ok
But now, raidar found my nas, but can't load the admin page (also trouble with the launch of apache)
How can i fix this?
If I do a firmware default reinstall (without loss of files), Will it put a 4.x.x firmware or 6.X.X ?
Thx for all

An OS Re-install will re-install OS6. The update processed involved replacing the files on the internal flash. The files on the internal flash are used for OS Re-installs etc.
Do you have SSH access?
If so, what is the output of the following?:

Thx mdgm for your very fast reply :).
Yeah I have SSH access, file access, ...
Just apache seems to crash.
And that's it :
I have create virtualhosts in "/etc/apache2/sites-enabled", but i have error in one of them, so can't restart apache
After deleting this virtualhost, apache restart.
And i have my frontview.
But thx you for your help 🙂

You're welcome.
Always a good idea to look at the error log for apache if it's not running to get an indication as to why.

Re: ReadyNAS OS 6.1.8 | Run on existing x86 (4.2) #notsuppor
Hello Forum,
So I've upgraded my Ultra 2 to the Os 6.1.8 and then through the web UI upgraded to 6.1.9. Thing here is that I've read that initially there was some loud fan issues, my problem goes the other way arround according to the UI the fan speed is below 800rpm and CPU temp are 58 C+. Is this way too high?
Can I use some tricks to set fan speed not to drop below....100rpm? (I'm aware of the bearing wear off this might have if I abuse off it)
Some images of my status
All help apreciatted

Did you do anything to get the fans working? Because mine reports it as dead even though it spins merrily,

No, this was working well. I updated from 6.1.8 to 6.1.9 without problems.
Others have reported some problems with the fans as well, but I thought these problems were solved.

Re: ReadyNAS OS 6.1.9 | Run on existing x86 (4.2) #notsuppor
Has anybody tried 6.2+ yet?
The current version is 6.2.2 but my Ultra 4 is running perfectly on 6.1.8. I'd like to have the new features but I'm concerned about the stability and compatibility of the new firmware with my old hardware. At least... until someone else confirms that it works fine.
Cheers, MB

There are several people who have had issues when installing 6.2.x. You might want to wait until 6.2.3.

Re: ReadyNAS OS 6.1.9 | Run on existing x86 (4.2) #notsuppor
Hello everyone,
I have to say THANK YOU to the people that made this possible. The Pro 6 is an amazing unit and with the CPU and RAM upgrade, it can last a long time on the OS6.
I am currently running the 6.2.3 T1751 version of the OS with an upgraded X3220 Xenon Quad Core 2.4GHz processor. One major thing that I am running into though is that the Apps page doesn't show at all. I really need to have Plex Server and couple other services working but without the apps page I can't do anything. No installed or available apps show. I guess it's one of the GUI bugs I've heard of before.
How can I fix this?
Thanks
Boris

Your screen shot suggests that you didn't click on "available apps".
Another thing to check is that the NAS can connect outbound to the internet. Checking for a firmware update is one way to test it.

If StephenB's suggestion does not resolve the problem can you send me your logs (see the Sending Logs link in my sig)? Your system may have fallen back onto the Apache safe config.

Hi,
If I update my Ultra 2 (RNDU-2000) to OS 6.1.9:
1- will the new file system be BTRFS?
2- will the encryption of volumes work?
3- any step by step to revert to last official Raidiator if needed?
4- any current known bugs except eventually fans?
Best regards

Re: ReadyNAS OS 6.1.9 | Run on existing x86 (4.2) #notsuppor
I read that 6.2.3 should be the first safe release for Ultra 2 to update
I am looking for bit rot with checksum function checks
1- Is it safe to update to 6.2.3 or should I stick to 6.1.9?
2- can the Ultra 2 hardware cope with bitrot + checksum enabled on whole system?
3- if 2) is no: can OS 6.2.3 still schedule regular bit rot/checksum verification on whole drives?

I would update to 6.2.3.
Whether you should use bit-rot protection or not depends on your use case.

Re: ReadyNAS OS 6.1.9 | Run on existing x86 (4.2) #notsuppor
My use case is data that is rarely if ever updated directly on the NAS, except during PC--->NAS backup
It is more needed for read operations at sync time, DLNA streaming and backup
In any case, can we still schedule weekly bit rot detection on whole volume?
For info:
I built the image using this code:
download 6.2.3: http://www.downloads.netgear.com/files/ ... x86_64.zip
