ReadyNAS Photos II not working (again) with OS6 6.8.0

Worked with 6.7.0 and v 2.0.6 but not with 6.8.0 and after upgrading to Photos II v 2.0.7.

When accessing locally, going through the Wizard after initial install this is what I get when trying to create the initial (admin) account.

Re: ReadyNAS Photos II not working (again) with OS6 6.8.0

Well, I took some time to dig into this tonight... and was able to fix it.

Here's what the logs said:

Aug 23 22:32:49 ReadyNAS1 apache2[27516]: [error] [client 192.168.1.176] client denied by server configuration: /apps/photos2/favicon.ico, referer: http://192.168.1.100:8086/photos2/login.html

Aug 23 22:32:56 ReadyNAS1 apache2[24751]: [error] [client 192.168.1.176] cannot open(/etc/frontview/apache/apache2.pem), referer: http://192.168.1.100:8086/photos2/login.html

So I started investigating here:

root@ReadyNAS1:/etc/frontview/apache# ls -lart

total 68

-rw-r--r-- 1 admin admin  963 May 10 15:21 ssl.conf

-rw-r--r-- 1 admin admin  298 May 10 15:21 READYDROP.conf

-rw-r--r-- 1 admin admin   54 Aug 19 16:37 http-share-redirect.conf

drwxr-xr-x 1 admin admin  446 Aug 19 16:37 .

drwxr-xr-x 1 admin admin  624 Aug 19 16:37 ..

I then ran:

root@ReadyNAS1:/etc/frontview/apache# chown admin:admin *

Then verified the change:

root@ReadyNAS1:/etc/frontview/apache# ls -lart

total 68

-rw-r--r-- 1 admin admin  963 May 10 15:21 ssl.conf

-rw-r--r-- 1 admin admin  298 May 10 15:21 READYDROP.conf

-rw-r--r-- 1 admin admin 2539 May 10 15:21 lan-try.conf

-rw-r--r-- 1 admin admin 3045 May 10 15:21 fv-admin.conf

-rw-r--r-- 1 admin admin  279 May 10 15:21 defaults.conf

-rw-r--r-- 1 admin admin  303 May 10 15:21 Auth.conf

-rw-r--r-- 1 admin admin   86 May 10 15:21 Admin_Auth.conf

-rw-r--r-- 1 admin admin    0 May 10 19:19 Ports.conf

-rw-r--r-- 1 admin admin  315 May 22 19:10 ssleay.cnf.in

-rw-r--r-- 1 admin admin 1023 Jun 26 19:10 safe-mode.conf

-rw-r--r-- 1 admin admin  343 Aug 10 19:52 ssleay.cnf

-rw------- 1 admin admin 3222 Aug 10 19:52 apache2.pem

-rw-r--r-- 1 admin admin 5241 Aug 19 15:57 apps-https.conf

-rw-r--r-- 1 admin admin   54 Aug 19 16:37 http-share-redirect.conf

-rw-r--r-- 1 admin admin  143 Aug 19 16:37 http-redirect.conf

-rw-r--r-- 1 admin admin 3058 Aug 19 16:37 Shares.conf

-rw-r--r-- 1 admin admin  411 Aug 19 16:37 WebShare.conf

drwxr-xr-x 1 admin admin  446 Aug 19 16:37 .

drwxr-xr-x 1 admin admin  624 Aug 19 16:37 ..

Ownership is successfully changed to admin.

I then shut down Photos II, removed it...  then reinstalled Photos II v2.0.7 from the "Available Apps" section.  Completed the install... and went through the wizard again, AND... creating the Admin user was finally successful!!

Seems like this may be firmware related or something?  I'm not sure what set these to root to begin with but it definitely fixed my issue that I was seeing in the screenshots above while trying to create admin user in the Wizard.

Now I will mark this as "Accept as Solution" - thanks for nothing and for not getting back to me Marty.

Hello givememynamebak,

I have tried and I was able to create an admin account. Please try to remove and add back the photos app. You may also try to use a different browser and computer in creating the admin account.

Re: ReadyNAS Photos II not working (again) with OS6 6.8.0

I don't mean to be harsh but, you don't think I tried that already?  I have tried that 4 or 5 times before posting my post and that is the result.  I did have it installed prior with 6.8.0 - RC 1 before the release.  Then upgraded to the latest version with the Update button after the 6.8.0-Release  not sure if that makes a difference.

Re: ReadyNAS Photos II not working (again) with OS6 6.8.0

Hello givememynamebak,

Please try to turn off all apps running on the NAS then try to install the photos app check if it will push through. If the installation fails please download the logs right away please then provide us a copy using file sharing website like wikisend and then PM me the download link.

OK... done.  It didn't work.  And the issue isn't with installing - the issue is creating the intial admin account.

PM Sent with logs.

Re: ReadyNAS Photos II not working (again) with OS6 6.8.0

Hello givememynamebak,

Upon checking the logs it does appear that application was installed successfully but we are seeing  a lot error messages pertaining to the readynas photos II.

I may need to check this with others who can probably assist us and get back to you as soon as possible.

Thanks for your cooperation!

Re: ReadyNAS Photos II not working (again) with OS6 6.8.0

Excuse me - are you confused?  Is it really that hard to see your last followup response on this as it's documented here in black and white.  You last said you need to check with others and need to get back to me... then you follow up with some canned response of case closed like you've offered some help?

To in response to your last canned reply... No - not solved and you've offered zero value thus far in this issue.  You've had me to uninstall and re-install for no purpose when the application installed successfully as I mentioned in the first post, and subsequent post.  When there is something to mark as "Accept As Solution" .. I will do that.  Until then, i've been still been in a holding pattern waiting to hear back after you've seen said errors in the log and follow up with others...  very confused how you think this has been a solution for me.
