ReadyNAS Pro 6 & Milestone Arcus - cant register licence

Having purchased milestone arcus licence for my readynas pro 6 running OS6 i find myself in a situation where i cant activate.

Looking at previous forum posts with replies from netgear support i find it strange that this is blocked by readynas.

Is there a way to fix this? I have done the 60 day trial and my readnas pro 6 works great with 2 camera setup and cpu usage is less than 5%.

Then im getting an error saying "you can only activate Milestone Arcus license on a readynas registered under your account".

The NAS is registered under my account as i can see it under "my devices tab".

Also added milestone-cpu.PNG to show the very low cpu usage.

Readynas Pro 6 has enough "juice" to do 1-2 cameras.

Im trying to activate the lic on netgear / milestone  https://milestone.netgear.com.

Why would this not working have anything to do with nic teaming on the nasbox itself?

I think netgear is blocking milestone arcus from being activate on readynas pro serial numbers on their web service.

We will need to confirm first if the Milestone Arcus license activate will not work for ReadyNAS OS 4.2.x that is upgraded to OS6. I will provide you an update once we get a confirmation.

Hi lurium,

I got a confirmation that there is serial number validation on Milestone Arcus on ReadyNAS which would prevent RAIDiator boxes from properly activating the license. The ReadyNAS must be a valid OS6 box for you to be able to activate the license.

Thats very bad news for any netgear product owner. This means they tell users that after 5 years their products goes straight into the garbage. Then why would anyone want to invest in the new series of products when they also will face the same issue when OS7 comes out.

They should learn from companies like Apple, they support their phones even after warranty is out.

Atlest they dont "block them".

I do think there should be a way for legacy NAS running OS-6 to activate these licenses.

But I don't think they should simply disable the check - otherwise some people running OS 4.2.x will end up activating licenses they can't use.

Hope they will reconsider and let me activate.

Or else il keep the 80 USD licence as a reminder never to buy Netgear products again.

This is something i would expect from IBM on my storwize products.... not from Netgear.
