Where is the GPL release for 5.3.7 / 4.1.10 / 4.2.22 ?

Where is the GPL release for 5.3.7 / 4.1.10 / 4.2.22 ?

It was released over a week ago, and the GPL sources are still missing from the website...

Speaking of which also, 4.1.10 and 4.2.22 GPL also needs to be posted, since those are available via Remote Update as well.

Re: Where is the GPL release for 5.3.6?

Let me join you in this question. I really would like to see the GPL kernel sources for 5.3.6.
Is there any chance that they will be posted or it is just a rhetoric question?..

Re: Where is the GPL release for 5.3.6?

Legally under the GPL licence NetGear is required to release the GPL code.

Re: Where is the GPL release for 5.3.6?

The GPL page has links up now, but they point to the previous releases?

I don't see how that is valid, as 4.2.21 has Samba 3.5.15, and 4.2.22 has 3.5.16. That alone would be a new GPL release.

Okay, so Skywalker has been uploading the files to readynas.com properly the whole time.
The team running support.netgear.com have failed to update the netgear.com GPL page there.

http://www.readynas.com/download/GPL/RN ... WW_src.zip
http://www.readynas.com/download/GPL/RN ... WW_src.zip

5.3.6 is still missing though.

Odd timing with the fact that Armijn Hemel has retired from gpl-violations.org. http://gpl-violations.org/news/20120805 ... tires.html

It's a shame it took someone like Armijn to keep NTGR on their toes. Hopefully GPL-V will have a replacement in situ' ASAP who will be equally as adept at nudging those consistently needing it...

Re: Where is the GPL release for 5.3.6 / 4.1.10 / 4.2.22 ?

So 5.3.6 was released on 9/11, it is now 10/13, and still no GPL sources posted for it.

4.1.10 was released on 9/20, again, its 10/13 now, and the GPL sources are still missing. The 4.1.10 link on http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detai ... rogrammers wrongly points to 4.1.9.
Same for 4.2.22, same dates for release, and item listed points to the previous 4.2.21.

Re: Where is the GPL release for 5.3.6 / 4.1.10 / 4.2.22 ?

Again, how much does it take to upload a file to FTP and link to it? Like I mentioned above, at least for Sparc and x86, Skywalker made the files upon release, but the Support folks that manage the kb.netgear.com page where all the files are linked from, have not done their jobs yet.

I don't want to see this community go down hill, I've been at part of it since the beginning (joined December 2004). But the lack of responses lately is showing priorities in other areas.

How about this... someone from NTGR to give a responsible reply, even as basic as 'we are listening, and looking into it', than the current silence.

// lets have some transparency?

Indeed, as thing are atm, the forseeable future (in the eyes of the customers) seems cloudy/foggy.

Re: Where is the GPL release for 5.3.6 / 4.1.10 / 4.2.22 ?

I've notified the person who last updated the GPL list (http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2649) to correct and update it.

edit:
updated for x86 and SPARC, file for ARM 5.3.6 not there yet it seems.

Re: Where is the GPL release for 5.3.6 / 4.1.10 / 4.2.22 ?

Hah, so now 5.3.6 is listed on the GPL page, BUT, the link is to 5.3.5. Same lack of comprehension that happened with 4.2.22 and 4.1.10 images.

Please, if the person currently maintaining this page cannot get these simple links correct, appoint someone else to take over the role.

So 5 1/2 weeks later, GPL is still missing for a released firmware. That is not 'within reasonable time' when requests started 5 weeks ago. Not cool.

Re: Where is the GPL release for 5.3.6 / 4.1.10 / 4.2.22 ?

I agree - this is just routine stuff, the GPL package should appear as soon as the release ships.

BTW, hand-editing the 5.3.6 url doesn't work either, so it looks like the GPL package isn't on the server at all (it is not just a link mistake).

Re: Where is the GPL release for 5.3.6 / 4.1.10 / 4.2.22 ?

So its not posted on the GPL page, or on the netgear.com FTP server, but it is available directly via readynas.com if you hit this link: http://www.readynas.com/download/GPL/RN ... WW.src.zip

I'm tired of nagging you guys... The ZIP was built two weeks ago along with the firmware on October 31st. That is a reasonable amount of time to update a simple HREF link...

Valid GPL for 5.3.7 is still missing on the NETGEAR GPL page.

Link on http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detai ... rogrammers is Error 404. #checkyourwork

They should know, this is not a new process, but something thats been ongoing for years. #retraining?

In the meantime, OOM-9, you have access to edit those files, can't you just update it?

Post GPL before the firmware, simple as that. You usually have two-three weeks prep time between GA build and public release. That should be enough time to FTP a file and put an HTML link.
