Can't access Share area with password via Remote

I have set up remote and can access all fileson the LAN machine but when I install it over Logmein to my parents computer I can log on to remote using my ID, I can see the share drives but when clicking on it I get accessed to verify the network password - DONE, and then the password for the SHARE but when I put it in I get told something like I am not allowed to connect to a network server with multiple passwords under the same user or something like that. I will get specifics when I can gain access again. the only way round this is to open Guest. Not what I want to do.

Note: Both my computer and my parents is named Laptop and have different passwords. Could this cause a problem?

Any ideas?

Yes, this is a problem.

Under Share > Security Mode (if you have this section in Frontview) what is the Security mode?

Ah, the same username with a different password sounds definitely like it is the problem.

Windows can only connect with one password for a user at a time. So either change one of the usernames or change the password for one of the machines so that they match.

Is it ias simple as opening the Accounts on Windows 7 and renaming?

I don't have much familiarity with Windows 7, but that might be the case.

Is "laptop" a user on the ReadyNAS as well or a sharename?

user so that Windows 7 can apply the password across the REadynas and therefore the user is not prompted for a password.

Re: Can't access Share area with password via Remote

solved:

In Windows 7 under advanced network settings you have to "use user accounts and passwords to connect to other computers".

Ticking this and logging off and back on laptop solved it.

What type of Windows 7 is this (e.g. Home Premium)?
