Lost discussions - posts never showing up
Hi Folks,
I have been attempting to post a new discussion topic over the past two to three weeks with out any success.
The new discussion is related to development of OS 6 packages.
I have posted the same message three seperate times and it has never shown up to be viewied by anyone else other than my self.
The most recent time I attempted to post, I captured the URL (which I can return to myself even now) and I grabbed a screenshot of the post.
This is the community link:
And a screenshot:
I was hoping @StephenB may be able to give some advice on my problems posting a new discussion.
This new discussion is clearly showing up, but what happened to my previous posts?
Thanks,
Azureal

There is an automatic spam filter - I don't know what causes it to trigger, but there are quite a few posts that get stuck its quarantine that are perfectly ok.
The mods are supposed to review it periodically, but they sometimes do get behind.
Netgear does trust me to release spam, and I have released two posts you made earlier today. I see a couple of earlier ones - I left them alone, since I think they might be redundant. Probably the best thing to do is repost, and then send me a PM if a new post gets caught there.

Re: Lost discussions - posts never showing up
For the benefit of others, I have no such privileges, so please do not PM me to ask for release of posts caught in the SPAM filter.
I believe that once you've posted a few times and proved you are not a SPAMmer, you won't find the filter causing you any more problems.
Frankly, I don't see the point of registering as a ReadyNAS developer at this point. Developer support has always been near zero, anyway, which was one thing that held back developers coming to or staying with the platform. Just look at how old the "approved" apps are for an idea of the magnitude and duration of the problem. Even the RNXTRAS web site, which brought the developer at least some remuneration for his work, has shut down as that developer has abandoned the ReadyNAS. If running apps on my NAS were a priority of mine, I would have abandoned the platform years ago. And I'm sure it has gotten worse (probably now at zero, if it wasn't already) as Netgear strips back ReadyNAS support.
A few years ago I asked for a "ReadyNAS developing for Dummies" primer, and didn't even get the courtesy of a reply that said "no". I'm not a Linux expert or professional programmer, but I could probably take some existing Linux source code and compile ReadyNAS-specific versions of existing apps if given a few pointers. But all of Netgear's documentation is written for expert Linux developers.

Re: Lost discussions - posts never showing up
Please do consider still doing development on the ReadyNAS if you have the skills and patience to put up with Netgear not keeping things up to date. We can certainly use more (any?) active developers. But rather than try to go through official channels, I suggest you use GitHub as some others have as a way of distributing your work.
Unfortunately, once a reply has posted or after some time-out (maybe based on how many reads it gets, I don't know), you can't edit a post.

Re: Lost discussions - posts never showing up
One recent thing I have setup is an installation of Java and Apache Tomcat. While not of much utility for the typical OS6 user, it opens up a world of possibilities for developers of web based applications. I have picked up several inexpensive 314 units over the past year and with 4GB RAM and four cores they are actually very capable low power hosts for Tomcat containers running Java or other containerized VMs.
