Ready NAS NV V2 Unable too keep Remote Access Session
Hi All,
Please help as i'm out of ideas how too sort this.
I have been trying too setup my NAS Box so I can access this remotely. I get the same issues on 4 different devices, inc Windows, Mac, Iphone, IPAD.
The situation is, I have been testing this through the machine that is hard wired into my router. This router is directly connected too the NAS Box. However, on the machine I have been connecting via the READY NAS REMOTE Application.
The Application connects fine, initially. I see the NAS, I see the Shares.
Now, when I go too download or stream anything from the NAS, it gets too a point where it loses connection.
The error I get is:
Windows cannot access \\5.*.*.*\media
Check the spelling of the name. Otherwise, there might be a problem with your network.
I have tried Port Forwarding on differnet Ports,
I have enabled access through my firewall.
When it loses connection, the NAS Box is still showing Internet Connection and Online and the Ready NAS Remote is still showing as logged in. This is using a wired connection.
We have had numerous issue with the App on Iphone etc, where we eventually get too see the shares (After like 10 attempts) but on the Iphone, its sooooo friggin slow also too the extent where I wouldnt even bother using it 😞
When it starts to download the file, it comes through at around 4MB/Sec but then just stops
Any help would be apprectiated as im just stuck for ideas.
Many Thanks
Scott

Re: Ready NAS NV V2 Unable too keep Remote Access Session
I haven't used readynas remote in quite a while. Would you consider abandoning it?
The alternative is so use FTP and FTP/s and forward ports in your router to the NAS. I then use FileZilla to access the files from my PC, and ES File Manager on Android.
iPad is more troublesome because of its (IMHO) brain-dead security model, but there are some apps with reasonable FTP support - including GoodReader. AVPlayerHD also includes an FTP client. Both support non-standard FTP ports.
Another option for the iPad would be to use a VPN, though I haven't explored that myself. You'd need a VPN facility in your router that was compatible with the client integrated into IOS.

Re: Ready NAS NV V2 Unable too keep Remote Access Session
what firmware are you on for the NAS?
is the readynas connected directly to the router or do you have any devices between?
