ReadyNAS NV+ Stuck on booting
Let me start by saying that I’ve done a poor job of backing up my system, I'm trying to get the system up so that I can at least get some of my files off of there.
After a power supply failure on my NV+ (RND4000) the system did a quota check on bootup, than got stuck on booting up. I've got 4/2 TB drives in there I've taken one out at a time and tried to get it to boot but it's still stuck on booting.
When the NAS is starting to boot it does show up in the radar software until it hits the booting part and then it this disappears from the radar software.
I have tried to skip volume check, with the same results, hung on booting.
I've pulled out the drives and put in a spare drive to test the NAS. It booted and initialized the drive and everything works fine so there's nothing wrong with the NAS.
I know about Tech support mode but haven’t work with any Linux operating system for more than a dozen years.
I’ve read through numerous threads on the community page. I'm able to telnet into the spare drive with the commands that I've picked up reading all the different threads.
I'm to the point now that I can see the files that I would like to back up but I can't figure out how I would get them of the drive.
I’ve tested all the drive using the manufacturer's software they all tested good.
So I'm looking for some help on how I would do that. There can’t be more that 2 gb of data that I like to retrieve.

Re: ReadyNAS NV+ Stuck on booting
Do you have a suitable USB drive that you can mount? (perhaps a thumb drive)?

It's a NVMe drive, it can be formatted.

Re: ReadyNAS NV+ Stuck on booting
StephenB thanks you for your help.
I'm getting the following message when trying to shutdown -r now:
init: /dev/initctl: No such file or directory, so I'm using the reboot command.
I'm having trouble initializing the flash drive , I have only tried the front usb port, but I don't see it in Fdisk.

Re: ReadyNAS NV+ Stuck on booting
I'm sorry, I know these are very basic questions but it's been over 17 years since I worked with Linux, do I use SSH like Telnet?
Is there a process that I need to start on the ReadyNAS, as I've tried using SSH and it doesn't connect.
Also tonight when I started support mode the vgscan command not found but it worked last night
Best regards

There is an add-on you need to install - the first one here:

Yes, but log in as root, and use the NAS admin password.

Re: ReadyNAS NV+ Stuck on booting
I finally placed my orginal drives back in.
Here's the log file, I know that i need to free up some space.
Should I truncate both the kern.log and syslog?
7.5M /var/log/frontview
767M /var/log/kern.log
16k /var/log/ksymoops
14M /var/log/messages
0 /var/log/netatalk.log.old
16k /var/log/ntpstats
16k /var/log/raidiator_version
400k /var/log/samba
0 /var/log/slimserver.log
16k /var/log/squeezecenter
769M /var/log/syslog
16k /var/log/user.log
1.6G total
Best regards

Re: ReadyNAS NV+ Stuck on booting
Thank you StephenB for your assistance.
After reading through a lot of the small issues in the community, many of us can't figure out how to mount the USB to be able to copy.
To resolve my issue I cloned the drives and I did an OS reinstall.
I am backing up the data and working on a better DR plan.

Re: ReadyNAS NV+ Stuck on booting
Thanks again, StephenB.
Would the 4 to 6 upgrade work on the NV+?
