Re: how to configure iStat on OS6?

Hi Scott - iStat requires a separate client application. There is no "URL", as it does not have a web interface.

For example, if you have an iPhone, you can purchase a client from Bjango:

https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/istat-2 ... 29458?mt=8

Alternatively, if you have an Android phone, you can leverage my application, NAS Utils:

Right, I have it installed on my tablet, when I run it and look at Telemetry(iStat) it reminds me that I need an add-on (which I have installed on my NAS) and then proceeds to tell me I need an iStat passcode, and to check my configuration...

FIVE Bucks?! Is there anything cheaper you could recommend?

(Sorry for hijacking thread slightly)

It's free on the android. But my experience is above... No idea not to establish my "passcode"

Or stated different, there is no charge for the one I can't get to work! 😉

No problem, please use the following steps:

[list=a:3hvn35tz]
  • Go to the main screen (the one that lists your NAS device(s)).

  • Press and hold your finger on the one you want to update the passcode for.

  • Click "Edit" when the context menu pops up

  • Scroll to the bottom, and update the passcode

  • Press save

  • I'll make sure this is clearer in the next iteration. Will probably prompt for the passcode iStat is detected, but the passcode is missing.

OK, I'll try that. Are you the author of the android app?

So, I see how to enter my passcode, but my question was really what is my passcode??? I do not know how to establish or otherwise determine what my passcode is...

Also, when I installed iStat on my NAS, I got a share (that appears to be empty) than is snapshotting ever hour.

Re: how to configure iStat on OS6?

I can't comment on the share, but the "default password" that displays on the Apps tab is the passcode. I believe this is 12345. super-poussin is the maintainer for the iStat "app" for ReadyNAS if you have questions specifically regarding iStat.

Re: how to configure iStat on OS6?

Yep that's 12345 by default as written on the frontview interface

Re: how to configure iStat on OS6?

I will describe my case I had on RNDP4000 with OS6:

The stat daemon did not started, so I tried to run it manualy:

    root@nas:/apps/istat/bin# ./istatd

    and I saw the message:

"Could not read configuration from /usr/local/etc/istat.conf: No such file or directory
    root@nas:/apps/istat/bin# more istatd"

    So I copied istat.conf:

    root@nas:/apps/istat/bin# cp -p /etc/istat.conf /usr/local/etc/

Since this time there was not problem tu run the stat daemon from UI using ON/OFF switch, but still the main RUN button is inactive.

    Iteresting that:

    "root@nas:/apps/istat/bin# ps -ef|grep istat
    admin 18717 1 0 18:45 ? 00:00:00 /apps/istat/bin/istatd -d -c /etc/istat.conf"

I mean "/etc/istat.conf" is as a parameter and "/usr/local/etc/istat.conf" is used in reality? Is the second path hardcoded?
