iPhone can't see some folders
After much effort due mostly to my initial lack of understanding of how everything fit together, I now have my NV+ talking to my Windows XP system, a Windows 7 system, and my iPhone. Very fast. Very cool. Almost. Although Windows can see all folders and files in all shares, my iPhone can only see a portion of the folders in my music share. AFAIK, my iPhone can see all folders in my photo share but that number is less than 20 at the top level. My music share though, has over 3,000 folders. Of those, I only about 200 random folders are displayed on my iPhone. I have set the owner and read/write permissions to be the same using the Advanced Options tab on the Share Listing. I have used WinSCP to prove to myself that the permissions are all the same and the owner is the same for all folders in that share. I see no other commonality that explains why some are shown and some are not - some are old, some are new. I have looked all over the manual and searched the forum for something similar but have found nothing. Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

Re: iPhone can't see some folders
I see all mine when I use remote . I had the though you were using dlna so I ask you to check if the folders not showing have "comma's". Thats what made my life better with my main folder. I don't use it that much so I haven't seen if music I wanted didn't show.
I don't think remote has a reindex option but I'd make sure you have the ftp options set up for your shares with media.
If its dlna check for commas and have dlna do a Rescan if it doesn't itself.

Re: iPhone can't see some folders
I checked the folder names and there are no commas anywhere. I may have a stray comma in a filename but it is returning the abbreviated directory listing so fast that it is certainly not looking inside the folders. I have FTP enabled for all of my shares and the user I am using has full read/write authority. While the folders that are being returned are from random places in the alphabetic range of names, the same names are ALWAYS returned.

Re: iPhone can't see some folders
As an experiment, I installed the ReadyNAS Remote for Windows on my XP system. I figure that if I logon to it with the same ID/password to access the same shares as my iPhone, I should get the same results. Well, I didn't - it worked perfectly. I could see all of my shares, all of my folders, and all of my files. I know that it was working right because I was accessing the shares via \\5.174.174.66. That seems to tell me that the general setup is correct but that the iPhone client has a problem. I may install the client on my wife's iPad when she's not looking to see what happens.

Re: iPhone can't see some folders
When I installed the ReadyNAS Remote app on my wife's iPad, it behaved exactly like the iPhone. I could see the same small subset of folders on my music share but all of the other shares displayed properly. BTW - the behavior is the same over WiFi or 3G.

Re: iPhone can't see some folders
Well, after much more experimentation I now know that the problem seems to be in the iOS ReadyNAS Remote app. I determined that the folders being displayed were the first ones physically on the drive - not alphabetically first. At the point where the folders stopped being displayed there was nothing special or unique about the folder names. So I started moving them to another folder but all that did was reveal a few more folders. I then created an empty share and copied in to it 400 files with filenames that were 6-8 bytes long. I could see only 198 of the files from my iPhone and the order was curiously random. After deleting those 400 files I copied into it another 400 files with long filenames of 84-86 bytes each. Again, my iPhone could see only 198 files. I will open a ticket with ReadyNAS Remote support to see if there is a solution or ask for a mod to the app (it also needs an e-mail option).
