rutorrent and security
Hi!
I have installed rutorrent and PHP5 5.3.8. Everything works fine but I'm a little concerned about security. There is no login in to the rutorrent interface and there is allot of php stuff installed that I don't know if it's secure. Do I have to do anything else to get good security?
Thanks!

Re: rutorrent and security
If you have a SSH access to your Nas you can try to set up Apache authentication.
Here you can read upon how to do it: http://httpd.apache.org/docs/1.3/howto/auth.html

Re: rutorrent and security
Thanks for the reply bbaraniec!
Adding htaccess only secures the webinterface dosn't it?
I'm more concerned about hacking of my nas due to security holes in having a lot of phpservices that I don't have any knowledge about. Is there any security risks other than the webingerface beeing accesseble without password?
Otherwise I don't understand why people struggle with other bittorrent client. Rutorrent has everyting
Thanks again for the reply!

Re: rutorrent and security
Yes, it's gonna secure web interface only. I'm not using php on Nas myself nor using Torrents.
Security holes are being found on daily basis in more sophisticated software then php bittorrent client. Use strong password, forward only services that you need, use SSL and you should be fine.

Re: rutorrent and security
Thanks to great community ReadyNas addons are updated pretty fast but still you can't be 100% sure that you are safe.
Like I said, use different usernames and strong passwords, use SSL, limit ip ranges allowed to access your services, etc.
