I am planning to add an 8TB external hard drive connected via one of the USB 3.0 ports. I want to use the built-in backup utility to backup the NAS to that drive for a local on-site backup. I also want to use the built-in NAS backup utility to backup offsite into the cloud (ReadyNas Vault). Can I configure both of these to work congruently, or is the backup utility a "one or the other" configuration?
And, can I choose to backup everything from the "root" or data "volume" location in both scenarios?
Thanks in advance.

I don't use vault. But the answer is "yes". The ReadyNAS Vault cloud service is independent from the Web UI backup service.
And even if it were linked, you can have multiple backup jobs - backing up the ReadyNAS to another ReadyNAS, USB drives, or whatever combination you need.

I am not sure what you mean by "root". You can back up the full data volume. But not the OS partition.

You can have multiple backup jobs. ReadyVault has it's own app on the ReadyNAS.

Re: Backup Questions
Thank you for your help. You answered one part of my question. And, maybe the other one, but I am not sure.
Let me re-phrase the other one. If I have the 8TB external hard drive attached via the USB port, can I back up to it locally, AND have a backup job scheduled to the ReadyNAS Vault too? So one job scheduled for the USB external drive and one job scheduled for ReadyNAS Vault?
