Firmware update 6.7.3 Issue

Just installed the 6.7.3 firmware so that my device was protected from the Samba CSV.

Now I can't change the fan profile on the unit.

It allows me to go in and change from Quiet, Balanced, Cool, as it did before.  However now when I make a change, the fans don't change at all.

They are currently spinning at 6700 RPM.  Which is fine after 6-7pm but since I'm trying to work in my office today is not going to work.

I have a ReadyNas 3138, with two 4TB Western Digital Reds.

Re: Firmware update 6.7.3 Issue

This is a issue on RN3130/3138 with 6.7.3 and 6.7.4 installed,

and has been fixed on internal T building,

Edit: ReadyNAS OS 6.7.5 Beta 1 is now available

Re: Firmware update 6.7.3 Issue

Hello bridges86406,

Have you tried rebooting after changing the fan setting? By the way, are there apps running at the same time?

Re: Firmware update 6.7.3 Issue

Yes I have tried restarting. Fan setting is unchanged.

One app is running.......Plex, with 0 users.  The CPU and System are under 100* F, so it's not a heat issue and I have not had this issue with the fans since getting the unit in December.  I change it very regularly as needed.

Re: Firmware update 6.7.3 Issue

Hello bridges86406,

Can you check if you get the same problem when disable Plex? If you have AntiVirus, see if sasme results when it is also disable.

Re: Firmware update 6.7.3 Issue

I don't use the Anti-virus.

I disabled Plex - No Change.

I then rebooted (with Plex still disabled) - No Change.

Re: Firmware update 6.7.3 Issue

If you have updated to 6.7.3 and ran into this issue please update to ReadyNAS OS 6.7.4 which is now available! You might need to do this using  USB Boot Recovery.

If you have not yet upgraded please upgrade to 6.7.4 rather than 6.7.3. If your system has already been fixed I would still suggest updating to 6.7.4 the normal way using the web admin GUI.

Re: Firmware update 6.7.3 Issue

Just did, hoping this would fix the issue; it did not.

Upgrading to 6.7.4 did NOT fix the issue.

Re: Firmware update 6.7.3 Issue

Can you send in your logs (see the Sending Logs link in my sig)? If you can't download them using the GUI try downloading them using RAIDar.

Re: Firmware update 6.7.3 Issue

Looks like there has been no resolution as of yet?

I sent logs within an hour of the request.

Re: Firmware update 6.7.3 Issue

The T build, does indeed stop the fans from screaming along at 6900 RPM.  However, it still appears as though the fan "profiles" still do not work.  So moving between Quiet, Balanced, Cool have no affect on fan speed.

Re: Firmware update 6.7.3 Issue

Ignore my previous statement on the profiles.  They do indeed work, just slower than they previously worked when the profile was changed.

Re: Firmware update 6.7.3 Issue

@bridges86406

FAN speed is controlled by disk temperature,

For Seagate disk

Quiet: FAN will speed up when disk temp => 52 ℃

Balance:  FAN will speed up when disk temp => 46

Cool: FAN will speed up when disk temp => 40 ℃

For other brand disk (Hitachi, Toshiba, WD ...)

Quiet: FAN will speed up when disk temp => 47 ℃

Balance:  FAN will speed up when disk temp => 41

Cool: FAN will speed up when disk temp => 35 ℃
