Frequent reset required on R6300 to restore wifi

Firmware: V1.0.2.78_1.0.58

I have to frequently reset R6300 to restore wifi.  Only soft reset is required, just power off and on.

Hardwired connectivity is nor affected.

Sometimes it is required everyday, sometimes it is okay for a week or so.

Worked fine for a long time (years) and the problem started a few months ago.

I am using only 2.4Ghz.

Any suggestions how to fix it?

Hi @LeShek,

You are welcome.

1. You can try the NETGEAR Genie WiFi Analyzer for Android. There are more powerful ones for PC like inSSIDer that you can look in to.

2. A factory reset clears the device's memory that may sometimes get rid of recurring issues. Yes, you can save the router's configuration and restore it. You can check the links below.

Hi @LeShek,

1. Have you tried changing the wireless channel? Try using a WiFi analyzer app/program to check for the best channel.

2. Are all your wireless devices affected?

3. Have you tried doing a factory reset for the router?

Re: Frequent reset required on R6300 to restore wifi

@DexterJB, hi thank you for jumping in.

>> 1. Have you tried changing the wireless channel?

Tried it many times on 5GHz.  The 2.4 is on Auto.  I have not tried WiFi analyzer; economical reccomendation of one woyld be apprecitated.

>> 2. Are all your wireless devices affected?

Yes, it goes solid blind for all wifi devices.

>> 3. Have you tried doing a factory reset for the router?

Resisting to do that, as it will require reconfiguring all the settings for all users and shares and ports.

Why would that help?  What would it clear that soft reset does not?

Is there a way to save and then restore user configurtion?
