GS305v3
I'm trying to connect both the t.v. and computer to the internet. My cable modem has one ethernet port. So I got this box but I can only get one or the other to connect. I cannot get both to connect at the same time with this box for some reason that I can't figure out.

Re: GS305v3
Like @microchip8 says, you need to go modem--->router---->devices.
simple reason why is ISP's only assign 1 public ip address. Its up to a router to take that and assign private IP addresses to devices.
If you don't have a router handling that, only 1 device will connect/work. And that switch has zero routing/dhcp/nat capability.
so you need a router, not a switch to manage what you're trying to do.

Re: GS305v3
Thank you. That is a good explanation. My old modem from Cox in San Diego was a modem/router combo. Spectrum in Texas don't issue those. It makes sense now.
