You either need to put it into bridge mode, if at all possible. Or, alternatively, you need to put the WNR2000 into AP Mode (via ADVANCED > Advanced Setup > Wireless AP).

You refer to the genie. This could be one of several things, the browser interface, a Windows or Mac program for a PC, or a mobile Android/iThing app. Netgear labels them all as genies. Which are you using?

I couldn't figure out how to answer that question, because the only thing I got from Netgear with the Router was a disk with the Genie software, whatever kind it is.
However, the problem seems to have been minimized: I disconnected the router completely, then turned it on again and it is picking up the other devices when I make it re-scan. I hope in future it will automatically scan when the it opens.
Thanks for trying to help.
