Netgear EX6250 used for daisy chaining

Can I use the EX6250 and daisy chain it to another ectender or does it have to connect with the router directly?

Re: Netgear EX6250 used for daisy chaining

You can daisy chain. but its going to drop your speeds. Here's why.

Standard single and dual band extender drop throughput 50%. They have to send/recieve between router----extender and then again extender----device. And they can't do both at once. So their speeds is half of whatever they are getting where they're located. If you daisy chain, then that 2nd extender is AT BEST going to have 25% of the speed of the router. Plus increased latency.

And I say at best because your extender is already going to be at a distance from the router so it isn't going to be getting the full speed of the router.

So can you do it? Sure

should you? depends on why you need it.

I usually recommend people needing more than 1 extender, especially if they need to daisy chain, to move to a full mesh system like orbi and go for the tri-band setup.
