Netgear PLP 2000 - Slow speeds
Hi there,
I bought the Netgear PLP 2000 adapters a couple days ago, hyped that I didn't have to run Ethernet cables all over the house. My plan is 250 MBPS and that's exactly what I'm getting through my modem. However, when I connect my modem to one of the adapters, and then my other one to my Xbox in my bedroom, I'm only getting about 30 MBPS on average. What is the cause of this? The ethernet cable going from my modem to my adapter is a CAT8, and the one going from my adapter to my Xbox is a CAT5E.
Cheers.

Re: Netgear PLP 2000 - Slow speeds
Many things impact powerline speeds.
1. crossing circuits drops speeds significantly
2. distance. The outlets might be right next to each other but be on different circuits. this means its signal is running from the outlet to the circuit box and back. it adds significant distance. and with distance, comes reduced speeds
3. interference. powerline is sensitive to interference. this includes:
- gfci outlets
- surge protectors
- arc fault outlets
- old/cheap/bad wiring
- high draw appliances
- electronics going bad
- some cell phone chargers
Powerline doesn't work well in all homes. It tends to be quite fast on the same circuit but once on different circuits, many things impact it.
Its why i linked to tested speeds in your other post. Did you read through it?
