Netgear R6230 - Can't connect to the internet over ethernet or wifi until a reboot
Hi All -
For the last 3 days I keep losing internet connectivity on my hard wired devices and my wifi devices. It happens 6-7 times per day and when I check the router web interface it says, "internet status: Good". I can reboot the router from the web interface or by power cycling it directly. After the boot process it works fine and I get 600+mbs wired and decent wifi.
I checked to see if there was new firmware, but I am running V1.1.0.50_1.0.1 and it says that is the most recent. I did a factory reset this morning and I thought that it maybe helped, but it just happened again. I work from home and have never had any issues before.

It isn't.

But the number you quote does not exist in the firmware library for the R6230.
It might help if you told people what the modem is in front of this router, if there is one. The make and model number could be useful. Is it, by any chance, also a router, with a set of LAN ports on the back?
The reason for asking is that a lot of people turn up here trying to put a router behind a modem that is also a router. That can complicate troubleshooting.

Thanks for the reply. The modem is an Arris Surfboard SB 6190.

It is possible that your firmware was the original release. That is usually left in the library, but if it caused problems Netgear may be removed it.
If so, you are running on five-year old firmware.
Your first move would be to install the newest version.

It is a pretty safe process. It should not let you put the wrong firmware on your router.
That may not fix your problems, but ancient firmware certainly won't help.

That seems to have fixed it, thanks! The GUI interface still says that I am running V1.1.0.114_1.0.1 even though I installed the new driver. I guess I shouldn't have trusted that. Lesson learned. Thanks again!

That's odd.
There can be differences between the firmware and the "GUI language". But they usually get back in synch.
I would be tempted to update it again.
One thought is that you were making such a giant leap for firmwarekind that there was it needed an intermediate update before the new ones would work.
This isn't a common pattern, and isn't likely with a pretty basic router like the R6230. It usually happens when they update the bells and whistles on fancier routers.
But if the problem reappears, update again and see if the version number goes up.
