R6120 powerlight is flashing after bad update

Title says it all, basically I tried to update my router, and accidentally unplugged it while doing that. Now the green power LED is slowly flashing and the router is doing nothing.

And your Web/forum search for terms like, say:
      Netgear flashing power
found nothing useful?  Including, for, example:

Sadly, unplugging the thing may have done serious damage to the router's firmware. The manual for your device will confirm that the flashing power light you see is a sign of corrupt firmware.

First see if this gets you anywhere:

How do I perform a factory reset on my NETGEAR router? | Answer | NETGEAR Support

The chances are low, but you never know, and you won't do any more damage.

If that fails, then try this:

  • Press reset for 30 seconds
  • Keep pressing reset while removing power
  • Keep pressing reset for another 30 seconds while apply power

It is a more severe "recovery reset". If that works, and the power light stops flashing, then you may be able to so this:

How do I manually upgrade firmware to my NETGEAR router? | Answer | NETGEAR Support

If that fails, then this is the next thing to try:

How to upload firmware to a NETGEAR router using Windows TFTP | Answer | NETGEAR Support

This also explains how to enable TFTP on a Windows PC.

TFTP isn't the easiest operation – it can take several attenmpst to get the timing right – so if you are forced to use it try a web search for videos that guide you through the process.

For example:

Different device, but the approach is the same.

The good news is that TFTP has rescued many a dead device.

If that doesn't work, come back for other suggestions.
