R6230 sometimes does not connect ALL WiFi devices to internet
I've a R6230, Firmware: V1.1.0.114_1.0.1.
My setup:
- this gadget is my gateway ... address 1.1. DHCP is off. WiFi 2.4 and 5 are on. Guest networks off.
- It connects to my provider's modem & to other computers by cable.
- Windows Server provides DNS & DHCP.
The facts:
- it is connected to the provider, and through that the internet, just fine
- everyone connected by cable gets to the internet fine
- sometimes WiFi devices (2.4 or 5, doesn't matter) connect to the router and get internet access.
- sometimes they are told there is no internet access
- I have had two WiFi devices, both connected to the router, get different status.
- Turning WiFi off and then on again sometimes helps, but mostly doesn't.
- When the device doesn't get access, it thinks the gateway address is 10.0.0.1 and it's own address is based on that.
I've tried these directions w/o success:
Fairly sure this didn't used to happen.
Any help would be appreciated.

That raises an important question. What modem/gateway/ONT connect you to the Internet.
By default your R6230, a somewhat aged (2017) and low powered router, will opt for192.168.1.1. It picks 10.0.0.1 as an IP address if it sees something upstream when detects a conflict.

Re: R6230 sometimes does not connect ALL WiFi devices to internet
There shouldn't be anything else. I'll see if I can find a good network listener to search for something else that wants to provide DHCP.
Spectrum provides me with a Hitron CGNM-2250. Looking at Internet Port -- Connection Status, there is a DHCP server. But unless I'm mixed up, that's for getting my internet facing address and should not do anything for access on my side of the gateway.

That is a modem/router.

Two routers on your network can cause headaches. For example, you can end up with local problems with addresses on your network. Among other things, the other router can misdirect traffic to addresses that the Netgear router usually handles, such as routerlogin.net or the usual default IP address for a router, 192.168.1.1.
This explains some of the other drawbacks.
What is Double NAT? | Answer | NETGEAR Support
Unless you have specific reasons for using two routers – to create two separate networks for example – it is often easier to use just one router and then to set up the second router as a wifi access point (AP) with a wired connection to the main router. Netgear advises this, as does just about every site you will visit.

But that has its own drawbacks:

It may be possible to put the modem/router into modem only (bridge) mode and then to use the second device as the router.

Your call.

Re: R6230 sometimes does not connect ALL WiFi devices to internet
Spent some time learning about Wireshark and then tracked down a 2nd DHCP server. The cable modem has been absolved. The info about setting up as an AP should be useful when I rework the 2nd DHCP.
Thanks,
