R6300V2 firmware update
I have an R6300V2.
The version is.
Firmware Version
V1.0.3.36_10.0.79COX
So I guess this is a router that COX gave out some years ago.
But I have it now.
There is a later firmware posted,
R6300v2-V1.0.4.52_10.0.93
But when I browse to the downloaded file and select the new file
I get a message that this is not the correct file.
I am sure it is the correct file for an R6300V2 but
it might be that cox had their own firmware? it's all Netgear, not branded at all. Odd.
It seems the same as every other R6300 to me.
Can anyone suggest anything?

Re: R6300V2 firmware update
You're correct in that its a variant just for cox. There was also a spectrum variant as well.
Sadly, I don't think its a simple upload a different firmware for it as everything I've found, shows you need to attach a serial cable to it to flash ddwrt to it. And that isn't needed when going from stock to ddwrt.
so you can either stick with the release version cox supports, are you could look into going the 3rd party route and going to ddwrt with a serial cable.
A quick google for r6300v2 cox to ddwrt will find you guides.

Re: R6300V2 firmware update
Slightly off topic, but I wonder, or those units, are there any hardware differences, or is the difference just the board ID?

If there are no hardware differences, in each of the different labeled editions, it may be possible to return them all to a stock board for use with the official firmware if needed as well.
(PS when messing around in CLI, mistakes in entering commands can brick things in some cases, thus it is best to always be careful and double check all commands).
