I'd forget the apps, and stick with the web browser -- less
(unreliable) Netgear software that way.

After you try to restart the thing, if it does not behave as desired,
then report the states of the LED indicators in the next installment.

Wise move.
Even the browser can cause problems if you allow it to update "automagically".
Many users prefer to download the firmware and update it from the local file.
