Re: RBW30 Latest Firmware file corrupt
Having the same issue with the download on my imac the file shows up as "Adobe"icon am unable to get the zip file for the Satellite RBW30. The same goes for RBR40 getting the dmg file and it will not open.
In retrospect I would never buy anything from Netgear again even tho everything works great it's always the problems in trying to update. In the Orbi App says everything is "up to date while on line it shows new firmware:.
Sorry to see Apple leave the router business.

> Having the same issue with the download [...]
Perhaps you are, and perhaps you're not, but starting your own new
thread for your own problem is usually a better idea than joining an old
thread which has been marked as "Solved".
> [...] on my imac the file shows up as "Adobe"icon [...]
I can't explain that, but I'd guess that some Adobe program also uses
the file type ".chk" for some (other) purpose. Why do you care about
the icon?
> [...] am unable to get the zip file for the Satellite RBW30.
"unable" is not a useful problem description. It does not say what
you did. It does not say what happened when you did it. As usual,
showing actual actions (commands) with their actual results (error
messages, LED indicators, ...) can be more helpful than vague
descriptions or interpretations.

_Which_ "the dmg file"? Regarding "will not", see "unable", above.
First, on my Mac, I see nothing obviously wrong with the various
relevant firmware kits:
$ ls -l RB*.zip -rw-rw-rw-@ 1 sms staff 33931424 Nov 1 15:42 RBR40-V2.6.1.36.zip -rw-rw-rw-@ 1 sms staff 23010129 Nov 1 15:42 RBS40-V2.6.1.38.zip -rw-rw-rw-@ 1 sms staff 19382029 Nov 1 15:39 RBW30-V2.6.1.6_1.0.13.zip
$ unzip -l RBR40-V2.6.1.36.zip Archive: RBR40-V2.6.1.36.zip Length Date Time Name --------- ---------- ----- ---- 34343041 09-10-2020 22:41 RBR40-V2.6.1.36.img 982 10-07-2020 01:00 RBR40-V2.6.1.36_Release_Notes.html --------- ------- 34344023 2 files $ unzip -l RBS40-V2.6.1.38.zip Archive: RBS40-V2.6.1.38.zip Length Date Time Name --------- ---------- ----- ---- 23462017 09-16-2020 20:15 RBS40-V2.6.1.38.img 982 10-07-2020 01:34 RBS40-V2.6.1.38_Release_Notes.html --------- ------- 23462999 2 files $ unzip -l RBW30-V2.6.1.6_1.0.13.zip Archive: RBW30-V2.6.1.6_1.0.13.zip Length Date Time Name --------- ---------- ----- ---- 20851578 10-19-2020 00:49 RBW30-V2.6.1.6_1.0.13.chk 880 10-19-2020 01:09 RBW30-V2.6.1.6_1.0.13_Release_Notes.html --------- ------- 20852458 2 files
And I see no "the dmg file".
As for "will not open", see:

> [...] it's always the problems in trying to update.
Reading the documentation, and following the instructions therein,
might help with that.
If the firmware Release Notes lack helpful instructions, then visit
http://netgear.com/support , put in your model number, and look for
Documentation. Get the User Manual. Read. Look for "firmware", and,
especially, for a topic like "Manually Upload Firmware to the Router".

Re: RBW30 Latest Firmware file corrupt
Thank you, I've done most if not all of the things you have suggested before. On my ios app, it did show an update for the satellite and did update in the app and it shows as well on line. Thank you

Re: RBW30 Latest Firmware file corrupt
Sorry, I'm not able to upload the .chk file. The GUI says the firmware must be an .img file.

Did you read any of the material above in this old thread which you
have (inappropriately) joined? Which part of the following was
unclear?:
[...] starting your own new thread for your own problem is usually
a better idea than joining an old thread which has been marked as
"Solved".
And which part of the paragraph which began as follows was unclear?:
"unable" is not a useful problem description. [...]
_Which_ "the .chk file"? To what were you trying to upload it?

Re: RBW30 Latest Firmware file corrupt
1. Yes, I did read the material.
2. Sorry about "inappropriately" joining a thread. This forum sofware suggested I do that.
3. Apparently, my image didn't get attached, which answered your questions. It appears one of my browser extensions intefered with the upload of the image.
I'll see help elsewhere.
