~Set N300 router up as Access Point
I am trying to set up my old router as an AP.
The IP of my home router supplied by my ISP is 192.168.1.1
The steps I have followed on the Netgear:
- Plug ethernet cable into a port in the router
- Reset the router
- Login
- Go to Wireless settings and change the Channel to match the home router. Click Apply
- Go to Wireless Repeating Function setting and click the Enable Wireless Repeating Function box
- I change the repeater address to 192.168.1.100 (note i have tried other sequences for the last 3 numbers as well)
- I put the MAC address of my home router into the BAse Station Mac Adress.Click apply. The router updates settings
- After reset I cannot access the netgear router IP adrdess on the web browser. I also cannot get in via routerlogin.net or routerlogin.com
I have also tried a different route where I change IP address in the LAN setup and untick the Use router as DHCP server box. I get the same problem after router resets.
Please assist. Thanks

"N300" is a speed, not a model number. Look for "Model" on the
product label.

Hardware version (Plain/[v1], "v3", "v4")? Firmware version?

Ok. Connecting it to what, how?

Not a very detailed description of that device.

A typical Ethernet cable has two ends. Which "a port in the router"?

Why? Are you trying to configure your DGN2200[vX] as a wireless
access point, or as a repeater, or what?
Visit http://netgear.com/support , put in your (actual) model number,
and look for Documentation. Get the User Manual. Read. Look for
"access point". If your router does not have an "AP Mode" option, then
you might want to see, for example:
https://community.netgear.com/t5/x/x/m-p/1463500
That's written for a Netgear C6300-as-WAP, but the steps are about the
same for any other router (any make/model) which lacks a one-step WAP
option. If that's what you want to do.
