WNDR4300 Slow Wired Speed

My ISP recently upgraded me from 300mbs internet to 4000mbs internet.  Previously on a speed test I would get upwards of 320, now I'm seeing 150-180 at best.

When I wired my PC directly to my modem I get 430+ speeds.

I'm on the latest firmware, I've tried different ports, different cables, and a factory reset.  No changes.

Can this router not handle 400mbs speeds?

Re: WNDR4300 Slow Wired Speed

30-30-30 did not fix the issue, still experiencing slow speeds.

I'll look into an RMA but I suspect I'm outside of the warranty window.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Re: WNDR4300 Slow Wired Speed

According to this website: https://us.hardware.info/reviews/3685/7/netgear-wndr4300-review-3800+40004300-test-results-wired

The actual WAN speed is closer to 300?  Which is what I have seen at the top end on this router.  I have scoured the documenation and even found the box.  Everything says Gigabit wired router.

Apparently this type of hardware is limited to about this speed - but as someone not "in the know" about this type of thing it seems really crappy to pull to on a consumer.

Re: WNDR4300 Slow Wired Speed

Welcome to the community, @Ronnies

It's true that the router should be able to handle up to 1Gbps of Internet connection.

I suggest that you try a hard reset.

1. With the unit powered on, press and hold the reset button on the back of unit for 30seconds.

2. Without releasing the reset button, unplug the unit and hold reset for another 30 seconds.

3. Power on the unit while STILL pushing the reset button and count for another 30 seconds before letting it go.

If you're still getting the same speed, it must be a hardware issue.

I suggest that you get an RMA if it's within warranty.

How do I request a Return Material Authorization (RMA)?

Re: WNDR4300 Slow Wired Speed

Thanks Elaine, I will give that 30-30-30 method a try!

However, a lot of research I've read has stated that this router can only handle roughly 300mbs WAN due to the hardware(see link posted, that's not the only one).

But like I said I will give your recommendation a try, thanks!

You're welcome. Through product registration you can verify if it's within warranty.
