WNDR4500v2 speed shifting problem
Netgear forum,
Dell E6220 Laptop with Windows 7 Professional 64 bit
I have a Netgear WNDR4500v2 that has a 2.4GHz b/g/n wireless network setup with
Channel set to "Auto" and Mode set to "Up to 217 Mbps" which will generally
supply an internet speed around 45Mbps. Also a 5GHz a/n wireless network with
Channel set to "36" and Mode set to "Up to 450 Mbps" which will generally
supply an internet speed around 110Mbps.
The laptop and router are within 6 feet of each other and if I connect a cable
from the router to my ethernet port and disable the wireless the internet
speed is around 110Mbps so the router is very efficient.
My Network adaptor is an Intel Centrino Ultimate-N 6300 AGN and in it's
advanced properties I have the value for the 802.11n Channnel width for band
2.4 and band 5.2 set to "Auto".
Most times my laptop internet speed is the same as the 5Ghz setup but sometimes
it will revert to the speed of the 2.4Ghz setup. When this happens I log onto
the router and my laptop is still connected to the 5GHz setup. If I connect a
cable from the router to my ethernet port and disable the wireless when this
happens the internet speed is around 110Mbps so I don't suspect the ISP. With
the router hardwired and the wireless enabled the internet speed is around
55Mbps?
I have tried rebooting my laptop and power cycling the router but neither
fixes the problem. The internet speed comes back to 110Mbps by itself maybe
in an hour or in a day or whenever.
It is not practical for me to keep the router and laptop hardwired.
Any suggestions?

Re: WNDR4500v2 speed shifting problem
Netgear forum,
Update
When I closed the lid on my laptop last night, which puts it in hibernate mode,
the internet speed was 45Mbps but when I opened it up today it was 115Mbps??
