WNR 3500L Bridging?

Hi All,

Having issues with a Sat-receiver Modem  setup and requested to setup my Netgear Router in Bridging mode so I can add another router to be diagnosed via TeamViewer.

I have searched through all the menues, including advanced and not even seen that term. I have eheard it, but something I have never used and no idea about.

Any assistance, pointers to help woud really be appreciated help me set this up for them.

Can I add a dumb question. I have a Netgear switch GS605 v2 unused for ages, can it be used between  iMac and the router to be diagnosed? I feel not, but best ask than stay dumb.

Cheers!

Model: WNR3500Lv2|N300 Wireless Gigabit Router|EOL

"issues"?  What is this "a Sat-receiver Modem"?

Huh?  "requested" by whom?  "my Netgear Router" is the WNR3500Lv2?
Firmware version?  Why are you trying to use the WNR3500Lv2 with your
(unspecified) "a Sat-receiver Modem"?

"that term" means "Bridging mode"?  What "Bridging mode" might mean
in this context is not immediately clear.  Depending on exactly what
you're trying to do with what, you might be being asked to configure the
WNR3500Lv2 as a wireless access point (WAP), but that's only a guess.

   Is that a question?

I don't see why not.  Of course, I also have no idea why.

This whole discussion might work better if you provided an accurate,
detailed description of your equipment, and tried to describe the
actual problems which you are trying solve, rather than asking how to
implement some particular "solution" (like, say, "Bridging mode") which
may or may not make much sense.

Are you having some kind of problem getting TeanViewer to work with
your (poorly described) network configuration?  Or what?

If your "a Sat-receiver Modem" actually includes a router, then
cascading anouter router (like, say, a WNR3500Lv2) with it could cause a
variety of problems, including something called "double NAT".  In such a
case, configuring the second router as a WAP might make some sense.

   It may not be especially easy to configure a WNR3500Lv2 as a WAP;
it's an older model which lacks a convenient one-step option to do that,
but it should be possible.  If any of that's actually relevant in this
situation.

Re: WNR 3500L Bridging?

Well, someone likes a keyboard and utilising every single option going!

I appreciate your time to  your way help me. However I would prefer you not to bother if you enjoy being condecending and feel the need to confuse everything with your keyboard prowess.

It just appears a bunch of pointless boffin terms and signs with some good points you could have written briefly in a helpful way. For those I thank you, for the rest of that twaddle all I ask is "What are you on"?

People like me whom have trained for our skills, do not know every other persons skills, hence why they ask on forums to ask others to share and help. Some, very few are like you and luckily in the minority.

If you cannot be polite and nice, wind that neck in... please.

Re: WNR 3500L Bridging?

Thank you for the reply.

I have actually managed to fumble and work it out myself now.

May I add a point as feedback.

When someone like myself seeks help, as a non-expert it is easier to be brief at first seeking help rather that writing reems of no useful or non relevant details. then those that know better can ask the pertinent information needed.

Hope this helps.
