Web interface option 'Revert to factory default settings' does not do what its name suggests
I've just found out that the option Revert to factory default settings doesn't do what its name implies. After my connection problems with firmware 1.0.1.70 (described elsewhere in this community), I wanted to try 1.0.1.76 using factory settings. The R6400 support page suggests using the reset button to reset the device to factory settings.
So what is the use of Revert to factory default settings in the web interface (Advanced setup > Administration > Backup settings)?
What it did do:
-remove the port forwards I had set up
What it did not do:
-change the password for router management
-delete the SSIDs
So in the end I took a paperclip and did a reset by pressing the reset button.
The moral of this story, I suppose: do not trust the Revert to factory default settings option in the web interface. It does not do a decent job.
