Wifi Extender, from where?
Hi,
After purchasing one of these, I decided to try a wi-fi MESH solution.
This solution was NON-Netgear.
However I am using this ac750 to extend the coverage of it.
My question is will this device extend the strongest signal or the closest signal?
Clearly they are not always the same.
All mesh repeaters have the same SSID (the netgear device has a seperate one).
Apprecaite any further clarification questions or responses.
regards

Re: Wifi Extender, from where?
In theory it should connect to the closest one. In reality, we haven't always found that the case.
thats why we usually recommend that using the compatible satellites because then there's something controlling what that satellites connect to.

Re: Wifi Extender, from where?
Thanks Plemans,
So what you are saying mirrors my initial thoughts. shame.
BTW, the issue isnt one of what the 'satelites' connect too; Its one of what the Netgear device connects to of the satelites.

Re: Wifi Extender, from where?
correct. I understand that its not choosing the correct satellite to connect to because the satellites use the same ssid.
I've seen it happen with mesh extenders as well since they don't have a router controlling which they connect to.
