firmware Update 2.5.1.22 to 2.6.1.36

On my RBR 40 in my Orbi ios app finally showed firmware update.......says firmware update successful and then the apps says connecting with the Orbi device and then nothing. Tried this update several times and it's not there. Clicking on the icon for the Router the firmware isn't even showing at all now.  Went to NG on line searched for download, found it but unable to open the file with anything that is on  my imac. Rebooted the router, closed the app tried several times and  the new firmware is not there (2.6.1.36) and I  also see there is  a .38 one as well.  Checking again,  the app is showing NO firmware update when it did before???

NG updates are time consuming and just plan suck as to ease. It's great when clicking on a icon and it works but it always take several attempts.

Any suggestions on how to get this upgrade or just forget about as the router is working fine before.

Thank you all, just so frustrated.

Try using a web browser instead of some (unspecified) "the app"?  Try
reading the instructions?  Try following previous advice?

I have read the instructions online. In the app it says "update successful" then the next screen says "Connecting to Orbi" which does not do and the update is not on the router, which it does not, and then shows " 'update'.

Thanks for the helpful link.  I'll just do a Web search for "the
instructions online", and discover what you were reading, and what you
did, shall I?

Are you reading any of this stuff, or am I just writing for my own
amusement?

Re: firmware Update 2.5.1.22 to 2.6.1.36

Thank you for your help.  WOW, out of trial and error, and most of the help pages gave good information about the file .img.

Online at orbilogin.net on line took a chance and just uploaded the disk image.  Guess what, the router updated.  Why Netgear just did say to do that in the first place is beyond me not to mention it never worked in the app.

A lot of consumers are just consumers and NOT  IT  Administrators or can read tech jargon.  Netgear, speak in plain English!

Actually, was surprised that it worked!

Again thank you for your time.

Good to you from Las Vegas, Nevada

I'd guess that they believe that a flashy app sells better than a
web-browser interface.  (The web-browser interface is not always
bug-free, either, but it's different, hence worth a try.)

"plain" and "helpful" are spelled differently for a reason.

What could go wrong?  (Thanks for the report, in any case.)
