no login interface / solution (for WGT624 v2)
for all those not being able to connect to the html interface of the WGT624 router (you only get a weird html code) this is the solution:
you need to access it with an older IE browser, otherwise it won't work.
it also does not work if you use IE10 or newer, and you only set the IE browser to a compatibility mode for old versions.
The only solution I found is to:
- start windows virtual PC (eg on your win7 or win10 computer)
- (take care to have an activ connection to your network card / LAN)
- access the router from within the virtual PC, with the old IE that is provided in the virtual PC (after resettting to factory settings, the router has user: admin / pw: password)
- upgrade the firmware of the router to V 4.2.11 (last one / you find it in the support section at Netgear)
- then try again to access the router with your normal browser (outside the virtual PC), and you will see it works! 🙂
even if this router is "end of life", it works fine and has speeds that are still acceptable (108mbit wireless / 100 mbit LAN) as long as your internet connection is not faster than these values.
