Hello. New to Community. I have a WNDR4300 router, firmware version V1.0.1.60. A recent scan of my network with my eset security suite pointed out a vulnerability in the network and recommended upgrading the router firmware. I have gone through the upgrade process from Netgear Support and the firmware version is shown as V1.0.2.80. In trying to run the zip file and burn to disc, both from downloaded and saved file, and downloading without saving, I consistently get the message, "The selected disc image is invalid". It is like there is some issue with the latest download version not recognizing my router model as correct, even though it is the model number that I submitted for the firmware update. Hope someone can shed some light on this. Thanks

If you download firmware from the Netgear support pages, it comes as a zip file that you have to unpack to get the firmware file.
How do I manually upgrade firmware to my NETGEAR router? | Answer | NETGEAR Support
There are a couple of versions of the WNDR4300. Check that you have the firmware for your version.

Re: "Invalid Firmware Image" WNDR4300
Hello michaelkenward and thanks for getting back with me. This morning I tried again to burn the zip file and got the same results. I didn't see any options for unzipping the file prior to burning. This attempt was done from another computer just to rule out any unknowns. Then I started doing more searches for a solution and tried the route of doing the update directly from the NETGEAR Genie application. This worked fine and I am now uptodate on my router firmware. Still don't know what I was missing the other way but the Genie method worked, so the issue has gone away. Thanks again

Re: "Invalid Firmware Image" WNDR4300
Glad it worked. These days I have all but given up on burning files to CD. I either use them as they come or I out them on a USB drive. Much easier to manage, and doesn't even need a CD drive.
